Meet Connor Donnelly

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Connor Donnelly. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Connor, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I like to get inspired by other artists and cultures. Lately I’ve been embracing nostalgia and looking back into things that used to inspire me to create. Most recently it’s been watching Anime and Superhero Cartoons that I used to watch as a kid! It’s important for me to take breaks when creating, if I start to feel like the creativity is too forced. I like to go on walks to get my mind off of whatever I’m creating, which in turn gives me a fresh perspective on it. Exploration always gets those creative juices flowing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Connor Donnelly and I’m originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I like to make music under the name Conbleez, but I also love to illustrate and paint. It’s been two years since I’ve released any new music, which is definitely the longest break I’ve taken from releasing music since I started. It’s been great focusing on playing shows, and other endeavors in life, but I’m very excited to announce that I will be releasing new music soon. You heard it here for the first time publicly in two years! Stay tuned.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Patience, positivity and gratitude are the first three important qualities that come to my mind. Patience has always been important to me, it helps me remain present, and to enjoy other aspects of life, instead of worrying about things that don’t happen in one day. Positivity keeps me going because it always seems easy to be pessimistic initially, but once I actively work on being positive in situations, they always seem to turn out better. Being grateful is one of the most important qualities in my life. It’s easy to be angry and feel like you don’t have enough, but the act of saying thank you and being grateful always makes me feel better. Being grateful for the things you have received seems to just bring more things to be grateful for. My advice to anyone is to actively practice these qualities in life. Take a deep breathe, try to seek any positives in situations, and be thankful as much as you can.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Over the years I have been actively seeking the right people to collaborate with. I am looking to work with anyone who produces music and music videos, as well as folks who create comics and graphic novels. If you’re interested in working together, contact me on social media @conbleez or email me at [email protected].
