Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Connor Foley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Connor, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes from years of working on it. In all truth, I went through many years of not being optimistic and was quite the opposite. During this time I never really realized just how much the negative outlook was its own self fulfilling prophecy. I was lucky enough to end up being around people that were more and more optimistic and supportive later on in my life and through their influence I was able to start making the change. It doesn’t come overnight, especially if you’ve been stuck in the negative for so long, but like any skill or muscle, it gets stronger the more you work at it! I’m a big believer that you get the choice to be happy each day. its not always easy and some days are tougher than others, but taking a step back from a situation and realizing that your perspective on it can completely change how you view or feel about it really helps! If you’re having a bad day, take a moment to start looking at all the wonderful things you have in your life to be grateful for! You might be surprised just how many awesome things you have going for you!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Tattoo artist that specializes in Dark art, Bio-organic, and Dark symbology. My style looks like stuff you’d see in a Sci-Fi or horror movie mixed with some gothic influences. I absolutely love these themes and find them to be super challenging and interesting to play with. I take a lot of influence from movies and music and love painting aliens and other Sci-Fi creatures. I just got done with my 2024 convention tour and am currently planning where I will be traveling to for 2025! So keep an eye out for those locations and dates!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Its hard to pin down exactly what would be the most helpful but off the top of my head, I would say resilience, perseverance, and discipline. Anything that is worth having in life, usually doesn’t come easy. this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t go for it, but that you should plan to really throw yourself into something if you’re serious about making it happen. You cant let what others think or say dictate what you do or what you should pursue if you really want it in your heart (resilience). You can let major or minor set backs completely derail you progress and need to make sure that you don’t let them (perseverance). Lastly, you need to make sure you are consistent and hold yourself accountable. Progress and growth isn’t a one time thing, its going to be a constant battle, and you’ve got to ready to wage it for yourself!
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
I read the book Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink a couple of years ago and a lot of the ideas really resonated with me. The main idea is to take ownership for everything in your life. Its always easy to try and blame others or outside forces and play the victim, but that doesn’t help anything and wont lead to solutions. If you’re able to take responsibility for something, it instantly gives you the power and ability to be and or find the solution to almost any problem you might face.
