Meet Connor Warman

We were lucky to catch up with Connor Warman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Connor, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

To keep my creativity alive, I constantly seek inspiration in the everyday world that surrounds me. I believe that creativity is not confined to specific moments or grand ideas but is woven into the fabric of our daily experiences. Whether it’s the intricate patterns of an oak tree’s bark, the rhythmic hum of a car tire on a road, or the sleek design of a ballpoint pen—these seemingly ordinary objects can be gateways to limitless imagination when observed with curiosity.
It’s easy to mistakenly think of creativity as the domain of artists, writers, or filmmakers, but I challenge that perception. I see creativity as an innate ability we all possess, waiting to be unlocked. By resisting the urge to confine creativity to conventional mediums like screens or books, I open myself up to a world of possibilities. I allow my mind to wander, to explore connections between different ideas, and to envision what might be rather than what is.
In doing so, I nourish my creative spirit with a steady diet of wonder, questioning the status quo and daring to imagine the impossible. This approach not only strengthens my creativity but also inspires those around me to see the world with fresh eyes and embrace the endless possibilities before us.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello! My name is Connor Warman and I’m a Writer from Boulder, CO. who runs a “blog” if you’d like to call it that, I call it a collection of my life’s work, dreams, hopes, ideas, and beliefs, titled Figuring it Out with Connor.
Figuring It Out with Connor— is a space dedicated to those navigating their 20s, striving to build a life that ignites passion and rekindles the joy of jumping out of bed each morning. In our 20s, we often feel pressured to have everything mapped out by a certain age: the ideal career path, a specific income, and a particular lifestyle. But this mindset can lead us astray from our true selves and distant from the childhood dreams that once fueled our imagination.
I firmly believe that adulthood isn’t the graveyard for dreams. Life shouldn’t dwindle with the passing of birthdays but rather expand into realms of possibility. Creating a fulfilling life isn’t about conforming to others’ expectations of what is “right.” Instead, it’s about defining what “right” means for ourselves.
Figuring It Out is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. It’s about heeding the subtle hints, the cosmic nudges, guiding us toward a path that resonates with our authentic selves. This journey involves taking risks, embracing the unknown, and daring to dream vast dreams—regardless of whether they resonate with everyone else.
I’m passionate about challenging the notion that we are fated to misunderstand our experiences until we’re older or “wiser.” While there is value in learning from those who’ve walked similar paths, it’s vital to prioritize our own voice and experiences.
Through Figuring It Out with Connor, my goal is to help you preserve your individuality and pursue the life you truly desire. I want to embark on this adventure together, creating a life filled with inspiration, passion, and authenticity where we all can win the so-called “game of life.”

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, three key qualities have been particularly impactful: curiosity, perseverance, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Curiosity: It’s the driving force that compels me to explore and question everything around me. It encourages a mindset open to new ideas and innovation. I believe curiosity is about embracing the unknown and finding joy in discovery, which propels growth and creativity.
Perseverance: Pursuing goals with determination, even when they seem out of reach or undervalued by others, has been crucial. This resilience helps me navigate challenges and setbacks with the belief that even the loftiest dreams are attainable with persistent effort.
Willingness to Learn: Approaching every situation with the mentality of a beginner ensures I’m always ready to absorb new information and adapt. This openness to learning fuels personal and professional development and ensures continuous progress.
For those just starting out, my advice is to maintain the humility of absorbing the world through a beginner’s lense. Always remain open to fresh perspectives and techniques. This mindset fosters growth, cultivates adaptability, and empowers you to evolve continuously. In a rapidly changing world, being adaptable and eager to learn is invaluable. Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and allow your curiosity to lead the way.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

A book that has significantly influenced my development is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. This classic novel offers profound insights into the human condition and the nature of personal growth.
One of the most impactful lessons is the idea that external achievements—money, fame, wealth, and power—are not transformative in themselves. These elements do not instantly change who we are at a core level; instead, they often magnify existing traits and vulnerabilities. This perspective has inspired me to focus on nurturing my character and values, rather than solely pursuing external success.
Another valuable takeaway is the importance of remaining connected to one’s roots and the people who have supported you along the way. The novel beautifully illustrates the enduring value of relationships and the significance of staying grounded. Remembering where I came from and acknowledging those who have journeyed with me keeps me humble and reminds me of what truly matters.
These lessons from Great Expectations continue to resonate, reminding me to pursue personal authenticity and cherish human connections as I navigate my own path.
