Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cordaro Starlings. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cordaro, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
In order to keep my creativity alive, I immerse myself into the cultures of art. For example, when it comes to me partaking in writing, I continuously read different genres to fuel the vehicle of literary depiction. I have also began studying playwrights and film work to morph my writing from books to the stage and big screen. With my photography, I am constantly engaging in self-help courses that can improve my work from lighting to final edits.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the founder, owner, and CEO of Legacy Studios LLC. As of July 2024, Legacy Studios provides services in photography and Photo Booth operations. Outside of the services that my company provides, Legacy Studios has produced products in the field of books, music, film, and podcasting. Lastly, my company is a known supporter of many community based groups and has given donations and volunteered to these said groups.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In my journey as an entrepreneur/small business owner, the qualities that have been most impactful in the success of my business revolve around my personal life. My business would not have came to fruition without the support of my family, my faith in a higher power, and the realization of life and death. I want to focus on the statement of life and death because the only thing in this life that is for certain is that we are going to die. Once I realized that, I began to live life and not just live.
When it comes to advice for others on their journey, I say that as long as you are living, you can continue trying.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful things that my parents have done or went through that have affected my life is the fact that my father and mother divorced and that my mother passed away. From the divorce, I learned a magnitude of things, such as, to live life in a manner that brings you happiness, appreciate the good and bad in life, be resilient, change is inevitable, communication is key aspect in life, and that there is no shame in failure. With my mother’s death, I realized that I must do what I can while I am alive, to not wait until tomorrow to do what I can today, things are going to happen that I cannot control, and to let go of fear.
