We were lucky to catch up with Corey Cofield recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Corey, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Amazing question! My resilience comes from my passion! I believe it’s imperative that people go after what they love and follow their passions. Your passion has a way of energizing you pushing you and taking you to your destinations point. I have a saying “your passion will lead to your provision”! I believe the more you follow your passion the more resilient you will be. Resilience is intensified by passion!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Corey Cofield, a catalyst for transformation and an inspiring motivational speaker/author, is deeply committed to empowering individuals to pursue their dreams and unlock their innate potential. Despite being labeled “less likely to succeed” by peers, Corey intimately understands the impact of doubt and self-questioning, having faced and overcome such challenges himself. Departing from his home in Detroit at the tender age of 14 exposed Corey to the harsh realities of the world, compelling him to make profound changes in order to forge a meaningful life.
Survival was paramount in the challenging streets of Detroit, where Corey encountered numerous life lessons that compelled him to delve deep into his inner self, seeking his purpose and calling. This personal transformation and life-altering journey have shaped him into the person he is today. While Corey acknowledges that he is still in a continuous process of growth, he emphasizes that he hasn’t just arrived; he has actively departed from past limitations.
Armed with love, valuable experiences, unwavering passion, and a heart dedicated to witnessing positive change, Corey has devoted his life to helping individuals discover their true potential. His mission involves revealing their authentic selves and recognizing the innate qualities they already possess. Similar to how an apple seed inherently contains everything necessary to grow into a vibrant apple tree, Corey believes that each person carries the inherent greatness within. He echoes the notion that we are all self-made, with success requiring the acknowledgment of our role in shaping our own destinies.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I have a saying “I haven’t arrived but I left”, this reminds me that although I have started my journey and I have grown in such leaps and bounds I am still growing still achieving and still pushing forward to become even greater and greater every day. I don’t believe there’s a point to where you reach this so-called peak when it comes to growing and learning. I believe this is an ongoing thing and one of the qualities I’ve been able to pick up in my life to keep me motivated to keep trying no matter how bad I fall or how bad things look to have become.
Another quality and a skill that I’ve been able to obtain is to stay within my own boundaries Keeping my eyes focused on my “yellow brick road” (my path) and not focusing on other people keeps me humble, focused and engaged when it comes to what’s meant for me. When we die it’s one to a box, Staying engaged and focused on one’s “yellow brick Road” (Path) is paramount and key to lasting success and self actualizing
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Ironically, I will have to say my newly published book “Follow Your Yellow Brick Road” (Your Passion Will Lead To Your Provision) has played one of the biggest roles when it comes to the development and growth that I’ve been able to obtain over the past 10 years. One of the most powerful perspectives I’ve been able to obtain when writing this book is the power of the subconscious mind, how it runs, learns and operates. “The subconscious mind learns by repetition in the same way we learn our ABCs.” Realizing that the subconscious mind is the key to your current it’s imperative to check what you believe subconsciously. For example if one believe that you’re in poverty subconsciously poverty will be your natural realization when it comes to your life. Whatever the subconscious mind believes will become your truth. If you grew up with the perspective of poverty most likely that would be your current premise subconsciously. Reprogramming your subconscious mind through affirmations, meditation and a slew of other methods is paramount to reestablishing one’s dream life.
