We recently connected with Corey Hustle and have shared our conversation below.
Corey, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
Taking a risk Well Ive spent most of my life working 9 to 5 jobs I’ve done retail, warehouse, construction etc.. Because of these jobs I was able to invest in my music career plus pay bills & all that good stuff 1 took the risk of leaving those jobs alone back in 2020 & I haven’t been back since.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Allow me to reintroduce myself my name is Corey Hustle I’m from Houston TX the Northside of the city is where i was raised (5th ward) that’s the name of my neighborhood. I started rapping when I was a kid I would always write raps in my journal after school I would skip homework & playing outside just so I can work on my craft. I got into the business in 2012 when i shot my 1st music video (A Million Tonight) which is one of my favorite songs of all time Fast Forward 4 mixtapes later I’m currently working on Music&Motivation Pt.4 you can check out
M&M pt.2 on all major streaming platforms. What separates me from other artists is the way I rap. My delivery game is unpredictable I always switch up my style on every track you’ll never get bored or tired of listening to my Art Work plus jus me being me separates me also I have no desire to fit in & that makes me proud because I stay in my own lane & do my own thang ya feel me. M&M
4Eva is a lifestyle because we all love
Music an We all need Motivation to get a lot of things done you know like working out & finishing whatever it is you’ve started so Music&Motivation are 2 things that will 4Eva be around.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Patients,Consistency &Focus 3 of the most important weapons on the journey to success you have to study do research watch documentaries of those who were successful before you learn from the greats & every thing will work out in your favor. I Built my brand on social media by constantly posting I would post a 16 bar verse on Facebook as a status ppl would read it & show love then I would post raw freestyle videos everyday i let the ppl know where I would be performing & they would show up then I started posting official music videos for my tracks I released because ppl love to see visuals & also I always show love to other artists an they would show love back on social media I’ve done features wit other artists & that helped my social media presence grow on Instagram,Facebook Twitter, YouTube etc… Social media is a very important tool you will need it for sure. Especially if you want the world to hear your music.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
The Most rewarding part of it all is knowing that my GIFT will soon be worldwide | already have plenty of ppl loving my craft & to pull up next to a stranger at the stop light an hear them playing my music is a Blessing as long as I stay consistent my brand will only Grow & also receiving Payments from my artwork is definitely a reward reward cuz I no longer have to work a regular job my Gift pays the bills now an wit all the love & support I get on social is more fuel to the fire
