Meet Corrin Weekly

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Corrin Weekly a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Corrin , so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?

overcoming  was not a single moment or quick fix—it was a journey of rediscovering myself and making intentional choices for my mental health and well-being. For eight years, I poured everything into my work at the same location, until I realized that staying in that space was no longer serving me or my clients in the way I needed it to.

The decision to move to a new location was monumental. It wasn’t just about changing scenery; it was about stepping into an environment that aligned with the person I wanted to become. This change gave me the mental clarity and fresh energy I desperately needed. It reminded me that sometimes, to care for others, you first have to care for yourself.

Another pivotal part of my healing was creating my podcast, The Healing Stylist. Sharing my story and addressing the challenges that so many salon professionals face helped me feel less isolated. It gave me a platform to connect with others who were navigating similar struggles, and it reminded me of the power of community and conversation. In helping others heal, I found pieces of my own healing as well.

Setting boundaries became my saving grace. I learned to say no to things that drained me, to protect my time and energy, and to focus on the relationships and work that truly mattered. Whether it was behind the chair, at home with my family, or within myself, I started honoring my limits and prioritizing self-care.

Overcoming burnout required me to lean into my vulnerability, to admit when I needed help, and to embrace the growth that comes with adversity. Through it all, I rediscovered my resilience and my passion. This journey has shaped me into a more mindful, intentional, and empowered person, both in my personal life and in my work. And for that, I am deeply grateful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Corrin Weekly, a licensed cosmetologist, author, and the host of The Healing Stylist podcast. My work is rooted in more than just creating beautiful hairstyles—I focus on building meaningful connections and empowering salon professionals to prioritize their mental health and well-being. Behind the chair, I’ve spent over a decade not only helping clients look their best but also creating a space where they feel seen, heard, and confident in their own skin.

What excites me most about my work is the intersection of creativity and connection. Whether it’s crafting a transformative hairstyle or engaging in honest conversations on my podcast, I’m passionate about inspiring others to embrace their authentic selves. The Healing Stylist serves as a platform to share my journey, explore the challenges salon professionals face, and provide tools for self-care and resilience. It’s a space where we prioritize growth—not just in our careers but in our lives.

As for what’s new, I’m excited to announce my upcoming book, which delves into my personal journey, the lessons I’ve learned, and actionable advice for salon professionals navigating their own paths to balance and well-being. It’s a project that’s deeply personal and close to my heart, it’s called “The Healing Stylist: A Guide to Mental Wellness and Resilience in the Salon Industry” now available on Amazon.

My mission is to remind both clients and professionals that beauty starts from within. By balancing creativity, wellness, and empowerment, I strive to make a lasting impact both behind the chair and through the conversations I host. Thank you for supporting my journey and being part of this growing movement toward healing and self-love in the salon industry.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three things that made the biggest difference in my journey are resilience, emotional intelligence, and adaptability. Resilience helped me keep going when things got tough and turn setbacks into opportunities to grow. Emotional intelligence taught me how to connect with people on a deeper level by understanding their feelings and managing my own. And adaptability let me roll with the changes, take risks, and find new paths that aligned with my goals.

If you’re just starting out, focus on building these by staying self-aware, being open to change, and seeing challenges as stepping stones. Growth takes time, but with consistency and the right mindset, you’ll get there.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I’m always open to collaborating with individuals and brands who share a passion for mental health, empowerment, and creating positive change in the beauty industry. I’m especially interested in working with fellow salon professionals, mental health advocates, authors, or creatives who align with my mission of supporting stylists and clients alike through education, connection, and self-care.

If you’re interested in partnering or collaborating, feel free to reach out to me and connect with me on social media (@Styledbycorrin). I’m excited to create something impactful !
