Meet Cortney McMahon

We recently connected with Cortney McMahon and have shared our conversation below.

Cortney , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I was never able to hide. I grew up during the time period before “body positive” was a conscious norm. I was always the biggest kid in class, regardless of gender, and I used it to fight back against the bullying. The other kids called me King Kong in grade school and by high school I gave up on the idea of finding someone to date. The chip on my shoulder was bigger than me.
I am a 6’ ft, non-athletic, big-boned, thick female with many visible tattoos. Even when I am at my best health (with a shape and size like Marilyn Monroe) I am over 200 pounds. I cannot hide from the world. Every place I walk into people look. Every outdoor event I am seen. At some point in my adulthood, I accepted my body and decided to use my presence for positivity wherever I go.
Everyone knows someone that can change the mood of an environment with their presence. I am one of those people. Knowing that I will be seen and understanding how energy works, I chose in my early twenties to bring peace to all the random places I travel. I began to practice the 3-Cs; Cool, Calm, and Collected. It is not in my nature to be bubbly and joyful, so I had to work with what I have. This practice became invaluable while working for Chicagoland inner-city youth programs. The young adults received peace solely because I remained cool, calm, and collected in every situation. Fights were resolved before the first punch, truth was spoken freely, and respect was mutual. Young women with bodies simpler to mine saw that I wasn’t disappointed in life, and I was not masking my confidence with anger or pride. I was ME every step of the way, with peace pouring out of my beingness.
Our energy affects others. I do not look like other people in my current line of work as an esoteric teacher and healer. Many spiritual leaders and teachers found online look very “put together” and rightly so. They are selling a lifestyle. I will never be that. I will never be able to change my size and fit into a beautiful box covered in crystals. I will always be a bit rough around the edges and covered in tattoos from my past and future. I will never try to sell a lifestyle but rather teach how your effectiveness derives from your consciousness. How we look is irrelevant in degree of importance and power compared to how we think. Choice Consciousness is the frequency we carry that vibrates out to others and the universe. So regardless of how our individual minds are represented in these bodies-of-form, we can create successful outcomes by choosing to think differently about ourselves and what we have to offer. One of the best things in life, is when a judgmental stare changes immediately from the energy that is there.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the owner and creator of a spiritual/esoteric resource platform with multiple services and opportunities to heal, learn, and grow. Stars of the Morning Light (SML) can be found on YouTube, Patreon, Spotify (meditation podcast) and serves the local communities of Southern Tennessee and Northwest Georgia with in-person classes at Blue Sun Fusion Studio in Dalton, GA.

I am best known as an Akashic Records Practitioner. Doctor Benjamin Goins has been quoted saying that I am “the modern Edgar Cayce.”

Many will refer to the Akashic Records (a name coined by Cayce in the early twentieth century) as where all knowledge past, present, and future is held. In today’s world many understand it as the cosmic hard drive.

I refer to the Akashic as the “zero-point-of-creation” and I am able to stand in the middle of that point to receive knowledge. I serve the world with weekly/monthly Akashic messages on YouTube and individual readings. Having the honor to represent the Akashic comes with great responsibility. A true Akashic Records Practitioner has no curious thoughts about self-serving i.e., winning lottery numbers. The pure focus is to help humanity achieve their highest potential.

With the knowledge I have gained in life and through the Akashic, I teach others on Patreon.com how to improve their lives with healing and developing various skills based on – all is energy. For an $8.00 monthly subscription, people learn how to work with energy for telepathic communication, manifesting, pyramid projection & protection, higher consciousness, and much more. Stars of the Morning Light (Me) is also the Founder of, New Earth Energy Market, in Northern Georgia. NEEM hosts Holistic and Cultural Events based on the motto “teamwork to usher in the new earth.” Every April there is either a 2-day Holistic Fair and/or Festival. The NEEM Holistic Fairs are to help spread awareness to the surrounding southern communities about different healing modalities, herbalism, environment projects, psychic abilities, and natural products. The Holistic & Cultural Festivals are full of live performances and holistic booths to discover and enjoy! Both events bring mankind together to witness that in our differences lie our similarities. It has been said by many that the energy at NEEM is different than any other events they have attended. We are cocreating with each New Earth Energy Market Event and will continue to expand ourselves and others with higher consciousness every time we are together!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I don’t believe I can speak about what has impacted my life without mentioning what has tried to block me…Doubt. The Webster dictionary defines Doubt as lack of confidence, to consider things unlikely, and/or uncertain of the outcome. What I had to realize and accept was that doubt has nothing to do with fear. That it is simply the “unknown.” While creating my path with each conscious step the unknown is present, but yet I Am the one creating. So, for me the qualities, skills, and/or knowledge that impacted my life the most were the ones that released my concern of the unknown and helped me embrace each step.
One quality that I forgot to use many times in my career but holdfast to it now is Discernment. It is difficult for me to look past the potential in each person, place, thing and see the true reality that is being presented. There have been numerous business ventures that others have gotten me extremely excited about its potential, but when the process started work ethics were low. It is very scary to not know the outcome (doubt) of ventures that start as a collaboration but within a short timeframe become a solo project. I have come to understand that as a “doer” people with great creative ideas are drawn to me, but I have to rely on my discernment as to which I apply my energy. By using discernment, it eliminates doubt.
I believe there is nothing more impactful in one’s journey than the development of complete Trust. We often refer to trusting others or the Creator, but what about self-trust? In my experience, observing myself and others, it is lack of self-trust that leads to doubt. We are the only ones that get in our way! Many years ago, I started building self-trust with simple acts each week.
> Frist, I learned to show up for myself with balanced lists and schedules while establishing my integrity amongst my peers.
>Second, I showed up for myself with implementing healthy physical habits, relationship boundaries, and selfcare/spiritual routines.
>Third, I showed up for myself by facing denial about my past and present circumstances.
I did not know while “showing up for myself” I was developing self-trust. All humans will break each other’s trust at some point, but we tend to either forgive or move on. What happens when we break our own or never develop self-trust in the first place? Doubt moves in and brings his sister Denial to stay. Confidence is the equivalate to complete trust! It is the manifested energy of a 3-part trust cycle, with the Creator, Others, and Self. If one of those is missing, doubt or lack of confidence is present.
As a Reiki Master Teacher learning about and from Ki (the universal life force energy) impacted my journey in unimaginable ways. All matters physical, mental, and spiritual are part of the energy that flows within and around us. Energy gives and receives. It releases and attracts. It is in you, me, and everything. Once I learned how to use my energy with the shared balance and order of cosmic energy, there was absolutely no doubt, fear, or judgment of myself and others. I was free to create and live as I choose. I use my energy now to teach others how to live as “all is energy” and how to experience the permanent state of miracles known as Ki.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, absolutely! As I said in my last answer, I can see the potential in all people, places, and things. I am open to other YouTube Channels (big and small) to record with. I am always in need of interviewing like-minded people that are working towards helping to heal themselves, others, and our planet.

Those who are interested in helping with local events and/or charity fundraising, I am usually involved in some sort of project. Currently, I am working on fundraising for the fires in Maui and getting supplies/goods to them without any red tape.
