Meet Courtney Washington

We recently connected with Courtney Washington and have shared our conversation below.

Courtney, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from my relationship with God. God wants us to have the desire of our hearts according to his plans and he gave me my talents so I know he will bless me with that dream acting role and will make sure that my business is successful!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a working actress and entrepreneur from Houston, TX. I’m so passionate about my career as and actress because when I bring a character to life and it resonates with some one I fill that I have fulfilled my purpose. The most rewarding experience from doing what I do is changing a life in a positive way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I first began my acting journey, my acting coach told me that acting is 90 percent business and 10 percent acting so always know the business. Secondly is never stop investing in you. That means go to classes, ask questions, and never stop growing. Thirdly, don’t worry about getting told no. That just means that the role was not for you but has nothing to do with your skills. For those who are just starting out I would say learn all you can and never stop. Consistency equals results!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Feeling overwhelmed is natural in my opinion. Sometimes I get in a hurry to get everything done all at once. I wish I could blink my eyes and everything I want to accomplish will be done, but that’s not possible in those moments when I feel overwhelmed I just stop and pray. I remind myself to take it day by day. All things that are meant for me will be!
