Meet Courvoisier Jones

We recently connected with Courvoisier Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Courvoisier, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
That is a great question! I developed my confidence and self-esteem from different life situations. I had to learn that in the business world that you have to have faith and know that things will work out. Business an be an amazing experience that can have your emotions all over the place. You have to build confidence on your own and encourage yourself. I always pray first thing in the morning. Then I tell myself that God gave you a certain skill set for a reason. Just because you aren’t where you think you should be doesn’t mean that you aren’t doing amazing! Every milestone I conquer, I get so excited and it boosts my confidence even more.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
This year, I decided to step out of my comfort zone. I had been promising myself that I would take the downtime I have to teach myself new skill sets. Sometimes, I get some hung up on getting sales and business needs that I don’t take the time out to practice my craft.

I started my party decor business in 20210 when the Pandemic was still at a high. I have in In Home Preschool and had a great friend encourage me to switch from logos and other things that were business related to party decor. I decided to try and design for my Preschoolers for their upcoming “Boo Bash” (Halloween Party). I instantly fell in love! From then CeeJae’s Party Favors was born. I ended up changing my name a year ago to CeeJae’s Exclusive Designs. I felt the name was more fitting. My designs are exclusive. All my orders are custom made.

From 2020, I have decorated numerous events, birthday parties, baby showers, etc. I never imagined actually designing items for other people and they love it. They recommend me to anybody who needs party decor.

I started off offering chip bags, water bottles, capri suns, etc. Now, I’m offering candy tubes, 3D letters/numbers, cake toppers, cupcake toppers, invitations (digital and print), and other things are being added to my store. The best thing I could’ve done for myself was to explore and teach myself new things.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I would say be open to learning. There’s so many people who do party decor, whether it’s party favors, balloons, jump houses, etc. Learning new skills sets you apart from different businesses. Willing, to try new things sets you apart and you also learn what you want to offer or what you just want to have fun with.

This business isn’t cheap. If you aren’t interested in investing in your business then it will not thrive. I learned that within the second year, when I wanted to start exploring paper party decor (ex: activity box). I look for sales. Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joanns, Amazon will be your bestfriend.

Quality over quantity. I set my prices a certain way because I offer quality designs and the items I use are quality. We all want sales but sometimes it’s slow. And during those slow times sometimes you’ll question if you should lower your quality or price. People will pay and love your items. They come to you for a reason.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking to partner or collaborate with other businesses. I’ve started reaching out to event designers/planners who’s work I absolutely love! They have been so kind. We have exchanged information and when the opportunity presents itself, I will be adding my work to their event.
