Meet Craig Hendricks

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Craig Hendricks. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Craig below.

Hi Craig, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My father set me on the road, learning to persevere. As a little kid, i’d follow him across the plowed-up fields of my granddad’s farm. He would never look back at me. Oh, he knew I was struggling and he always kept me safe, but he let me figure out that I could, and should, keep going and keep up, instead of leaving the field. After that, I would have to say that my resilience is a result of getting knocked down a whole lot. It’s having been put into situations over and over again, that try you down to the core. Those situations strip away the distractions; they remove the extra chaff or fluff until your soul is exposed. Then it’s up to each of us to look at the possibilities in our lives and commit to moving forward. Those times, days, situations, make you decide to NOT quit, not ever.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am proud to say that I am a professional storyteller, an entertainer, and artist in that I sketch the ups and downs of life and sum it up in a song. Actually, I am a National Touring Artist, a Nashville recording artist, and a songwriter. I perform all over the country from Georgia to Maine, to Alaska. I have had the honor of being recognized as songwriter, artist, and vocalist, with some awards and a lot of nominations (including Nominated Songwriter of the Year 7 times by 4 different Associations including ICMAs and JMAs, Best Male Country Artist in Alabama 3 years running). However, the best part is that I have had the privilege of gaining the friendship and sharing the stage with some incredible people who have included me with acts like Ashley Best and the Set ’em Up Band, Chris Hall and Overdrive, Ricochet, Rodney Crowell, Dallas Moore, Whey Jennings, Whitey Morgan, and many others.
I was a late comer to Nashville, but I was in town only about 6 months when I landed my first publishing deal with Art Ward and Century Music Group. My second project was produced by Beverly Jenkins Gosdin (previously married to Vern Gosdin), and my latest music, and first full album, was released May of 2025 with BJG Records and recorded at TuneDesigner Studio in Covington, GA.
Presently, I am starting a new podcast and vidcast. Besides the normal hustle and bustle of the music business, I am adding Workshops for songwriters and new artist development services. So far, the workshops are taking off! We are also booking in solid for big things in 2026!!!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The most important things to me, on my journey, the most impactful things are not really music related. Perseverance, Resilience, and “Heart” have probably been more important in carrying me through on my journey. Of course, being professional, developing presence, having a good attitude, and organization go a long way to help too!!!
I would advise anyone who starts out, to do a little soul searching. Ironically, the music business is not where you want to simply dip your toe in the water unless you don’t mind getting wet. In other words, don’t use it to pad your ego. It takes commitment, fortitude, and a lot of work. Make sure this is what you want, then learn as much as you can, get guidance when possible, and stay the course!

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

I would spend it exactly as I have, just maybe a bit kinder, a few more smiles, and maybe a little slower in order to savor it all!
I would encourage, I would include, and I would write every song that was in my heart, no matter what.
