We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Crimson Sairina. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Crimson below.
Crimson, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Genetics? It’s always nice to blame the parents.
In all honesty, we’re shaped by our surroundings and resources, and I was lucky enough to have a great role model and support system in my mother.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a composer and metal singer. My creations focus mainly around ambient music, as well as symphonies and folk, but I also enjoy lending my voice to metal music.
I greatly enjoy good sound and to make melodies that are beautiful and impactful. Preferably with a haunting touch. That may or may not have something to do with my fascination with the supernatural.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I just pursued my three greatest passions whenever I could – travel, music and the occult/supernatural. Music theory has been invaluable to me, but so does being highly musical. Whenever there was an opportunity to travel to another country, I took it, whether by studying another language or simply getting into the right school. As for the occult/supernatural, I chose to ignore the stigma and got a hold of as many books on the topic as I could.
It’s hard to give good advice not knowing their life story or situation. A lot of the experiences I’ve had depended on my surroundings and available resources. It can also be hard to see solutions when life seems to throw a never-ending supply of obstacles our way. Well-meaning advice can easily do as much harm as it can help, and navigating fellow humans, trying to see who is helpful and who is trying to hold us back, can be difficult and treacherous. And don’t get me started on toxic positivity!
The best I can do is share what helped me, and see if that resonates with others out there. For me it was a change in mindset – turning away from the problem to find the solution. This required a safe space for me to calm down and think clearly, and the right kind of outward influence. In the end I learned to take the right steps, trust the right people and move towards a better future.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m legit looking for a metal band to join. No joke, I want to collaborate on more metal music, but also with people who play folk instruments like the Hardanger fiddle. I love to combine folk music with metal. Outrageous make-up and costumes are preferred.
