Meet Crown One

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Crown One. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Crown below.

Crown, so great to have you sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our readers and so let’s jump right into one of our favorite topics – empathy. We think a lack of empathy is at the heart of so many issues the world is struggling with and so our hope is to contribute to an environment that fosters the development of empathy. Along those lines, we’d love to hear your thoughts around where your empathy comes from?

God developed my empathy through experiencing medical emergencies, divorce, financial losses, and what felt like spiritual abandonment at times. Experiencing these hard, death-like conditions put me in a state where I didn’t want to eat, speak, listen, read, or leave my bed or room for days, sometimes a week and a half at a time. There were moments I felt I was having heart attacks and didn’t want to wake up the next day. Those conditions would often cause me to become catatonic, going through the motions without any awareness of what life is and what it’s truly about: faith and progress.

See, every person on the face of the earth operates by faith whether they are aware of it or believe it or not. Faith that something will work, won’t work, or that nothing is at work at all. The progress one has is the dash between birth and death. So for me, after seeing and living through what my own blood would call unbearable life events, I found a greater grace and peace to bestow upon my fellow imago Dei. So no matter if a person looks “put together” or “fallen apart,” I treat everyone the same, because the days and years I “looked my best” were actually a facade. Thankfully, by God’s grace, I have not just survived those conditions but am thriving and showing others a way out and up through creative content. That’s how God developed empathy in my soul.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a servant that provides solutions. As an artist, my mission is to glorify God through music that speaks to the heart and soul. Rooted in the Word and my personal journey, I aim to inspire transformation, spreading messages of faith, redemption, and purpose. My music seeks to lead listeners from darkness to light, encouraging them to walk by faith, live out their God-given potential, and share the love of Christ with others. Every beat, lyric, and performance is a reflection of the grace that saved me and the belief that, through God, all things are possible.

With this intent, I was blessed with the project The Faith Tape Vol. 1, which is set to release on Oct 11, 2024, on the EVEN platform in partnership with Faith Clothing of New York. This album embodies my life’s journey and the desert of life I walked in and out of, like Jesus.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities that have been the most impactful for me are my resilience through faith, my emotional honesty and vulnerability, and my commitment to growth. My advice to anyone on their journey through life is to embrace your challenges as opportunities for growth, lean into your faith, and don’t be afraid to show who you are. When you do, God shows you who He is and when, where, and how you can continually become better in life.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Patience and contentment. Faith requires a heavy balance of both attributes. The last year was a roller coaster with many drops and unexpected turns in the dark, but I’ve appreciated every moment of it. I’ve learned how to move forward whether I have it all or have little. I’ve improved in my empathy toward people. My stage presence and business across the board have improved as well, despite what many would consider setbacks. It was a part of my journey in arriving at this moment over the past year where I’m content yet persistent in my goals.
