We recently connected with Crystal A Jordan and have shared our conversation below.
Crystal A, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
I’ve learned to take the focus off the nay-sayers and put it back on myself. You can’t stop people from talking about you, but what you can control is how you feel about yourself and the narrative you choose to tell yourself. Staying focused on my purpose and anchoring myself to my ‘why’ has kept me moving forward, no matter the negativity.
The people I surround myself with are amazing—they uplift me, inspire me, and remind me of my potential. That support system, combined with my belief in myself, makes it easier to tune out the noise and keep moving forward. I’ve realized that haters come in many forms, often for reasons unrelated to me. Being aware of that helps me not take it personally, stay compassionate, and remain focused on my path.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m an actress and content creator, primarily using my Instagram platform to connect with my audience. I specialize in creating engaging and entertaining skits, point-of-view (POV) videos, TV and movie remakes, and relatable content that resonates with people’s everyday lives. The most exciting part of creating content is seeing how many people can relate to and interact with what I share. It’s funny because so often we feel like we’re alone in the things we go through, but a single post can bring so many people together to laugh, share, and connect over similar experiences. I love having a space where I can just be myself and have fun. Seeing people enjoy the content I create is really special to me, especially because, for a long time, I was so self-conscious and afraid to share the silly ideas I had. Now, it feels amazing to know that those ideas can bring joy to others.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, I think the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are self-love, consistency, and adaptability.
First is self-love—learning to truly appreciate and accept myself has been fundamental in building my confidence. It’s allowed me to trust my abilities and feel comfortable taking risks, even when it feels uncertain.
The second is consistency. Whether it’s posting content or refining my craft, showing up every day has helped me build momentum and continue improving. One of the things I do is keep a progress chart in my notebook, so I can physically see the movement I’m making toward my goals, which helps keep me motivated.
Lastly, adaptability has played a huge role. Things don’t always go the way you expect, and being able to adjust when plans shift has allowed me to keep moving forward. Embracing flexibility helps me stay grounded and find new ways to reach my goals, even when faced with challenges.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Without a doubt, my sister has been the most helpful in overcoming challenges and developing the essential skills I need to succeed. She’s one of the most knowledgeable people I know, and I’m constantly surprised by how much she understands about so many areas of life. She’s taught me so much about self-love, finances, and life in general.
One of the most valuable things she’s taught me is that it’s okay to not be okay, but not to stay in that space of feeling like a victim. She encourages me to feel what I need to feel while giving me the space to process those emotions. When I start second-guessing myself or get stuck in my head, she reminds me of how creative and amazing I am. Sometimes, when I’m overwhelmed, she suggests simple but effective ways to reset, like reading a book, singing a song, or going for a walk. Her guidance and support have been invaluable in helping me stay focused and and I am beyond grateful for her. -Love You Cam
