Meet Crystal Buckley

We were lucky to catch up with Crystal Buckley recently and have shared our conversation below.

Crystal , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

After i came out of an abusive marriage, broken and distraught, i didnt know where to turn or what to do, i had experienced abuse of all sorts, so i had refrained from speaking about it for years.
Alot of persons to date still dont know my story, or has just heard of it since i wrote the book, or they see me on platforms.
It took crying out to God for courage, strength and comfort. Until i got to realize that God had me go through this so i could become a Motivational Speaker and an Author. Even when i ventured into those areas i did not know what i was doing. But i know i was been led by God to do these things. I was way in deep when i finally understood that my propose was to help woman, especially those going through or those that has been in an abusive relationship, to understand that there is hope after anyting we have gone through. We can still come out victorious. We can overcome with the help of Jesus Christ.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a 36 year old nurse, from the beautiful Island of Jamaica, but currently residing in the Cayman Islands. I enjoy reading, worshipping, sight seeing and interacting with people, but most if All I love speaking with young women, especially those on a similar journey as mine.
I got married at a early age(20s) and experienced abuse of all sorts, at first i always wondered if i was doing someting wrong, so i stayed trying to figure it out or trying other things i thought would have made it better, but it got worst.
But today im glad i went through that season because it birthed my purpose, and a book( others in the making).I have been on alot of platform speaking, trying to bring across the message that Broken Crayons Still color. There is hope after any situation. You can still come out and live the vibrant life envisioned. Though it will be tough, I have had sleepness nights, depressive days, but im glad God gave his words that even in the roughest of times he will be with us.. and so that has kept me, and is still keeping me today.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I struggled silently for years, i was ashamed to seek help,so i turned to alcohol and partying to quell the pain i was feeling but it only helped in the moment when it wore off i was back at square one.
I seeked God by force and that is how i started the healing journey. So i would say the three areas that were most impactful is 1. *Staying in Prayer* Prayer moves Mountains, though it may not happen overnight, God will surely come through.
2.*Speak about it.* There must be someone you can speak to, speaking helps the healing, helps take a load off, because sometimes the person you speak with has the right things to say.
3. *Be confident* things will change, again may not be right way but eventually does. Alot of people did not live to tell the tale so dont waste the chance or time given, make use of the second Chance.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Oh yes i am looking for person who has been through situations or similar as mine. I’d like sponsors and persons ready to speak up for an upcomimg conference i am planning for early 2025. Domestic abuse is a broad topic and so alot of people have experienced different aspects of it. Im grateful for platforms like these, for the exposure.
