Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Crystal Crisp-Wooden. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Crystal, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
I have learned to be effective/successful even when I was the only one in the room because as a child, I was literally the only one in the room!! Lol I was the only child raised by a single mom who worked constantly, I was left at home often so being alone was truly all I knew. So, as an adult I have always felt more effective alone. Being a successful adult has made me feel like, the life my mother provided was worth it. Most people have both mom and dad, and as a child I felt cheated by not having my dad, but as an adult I feel like it has added to my success. I am able to walk alone and stand there.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am Crystal “Lady ⭕️” Crisp-Wooden, I am a world renowned Pastor and Motivational Speaker, my husband and I also own one of the top security companies on the east coast, Wooden Security. Pastoring to me is more like a lifestyle and not a position. I live to just help and teach about Jesus. No, I have not always been in church, my mom was a single parent who was into the street life, so church was not heard of in my house, unless it was New Years. I can remember I was so intrigued as a kid when we did go to church, and I always felt a connection when we did attend. I can remember when I got married 23 years ago, my husband was an elder in the church and he would take time out with me to understand more about the Bible. I knew there was something that I was suppose to do but I just didn’t get it right away. About 8 years into our marriage all hell began to break loose, because I was such a strong Will woman who was raised by a strong willed independent woman, it was hard for me to submit. This caused my husband to look outside our marriage for someone who would submit and ultimately caused us to separate for 3 years. This separation although devastating, it was also life changing, I was able to see our marriage differently, I seen myself being strong willed and over powering in most cases, which caused our home to be unhappy and unhealthy for us both. So I began to read my Bible more, I do believe this is where my faith was tested and started my journey into ministry, I encouraged women and men to look at themselves and to hold themselves accountable. My husband whom I was separated from began that same journey of holding himself accountable and we eventually found ourselves loving eachother harder and stronger than every. It also birth my Ministry “Lady ⭕️” as I’m known around the world. Thanks to my son, who shared a tiktok of me that went viral. Since the tiktok I have traveled all over preaching and teaching Gods word. Our security company also allows me to meet celebrities and artist all over the world who I get to speak a word into their life, like I said before, this is my lifestyle! It was hard for me to even answer these questions about me because I don’t believe I’m doing anything great, I’m only telling the world about a man who saved me from the lifestyle my mother lived. Statistically, I was never suppose to make it out the neighborhood I was raised in, I was never suppose to graduate or accomplish what I have. I thank God every day for this life and opportunities that I have. I was truly birthed to serve God and God’s people. And I count it an honor. I do have a ministry in my home town of Danville Va, but my Sister/Business Partner have a conference called “It Had to Happen” that we have been fortunate to have all over the world. Our next conference will be March 2024 in North Carolina, so stay tuned. I am definitely a “Ministry” on the move, and just know God is not finished with me yet.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The best way to keep improving yourself is to always hold yourself accountable. You should also never be unreachable or unreachable. This has literally been the bases of my success, I’m always willing to learn more and I’m always available to listen!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am definitely looking for more people to collaborate with. There is a whole world of people who may need you and if you never connect with others you may never reach those people. So, I love to connect and collaborate. I can be reached through email @ [email protected] or any of my social media accounts. FB@ Crystal Crisp Tiktok@ CrystalCrisp511 Instagram @ Crystal Crisp
