We recently connected with Crystal Douglas and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Crystal, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Both of my Parents. My deceased father and my mother. They were hard workers, that made sure they went to work daily to provide for the family. My mother worked in the hosiery mill and was also a Paramedic. My dad was a supervisor in a hosiery mill as well.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I have been working for the local public school system for 20 plus years in Human Resources. I also work in the funeral service industry. I attended Mortuary School and graduated with my degree. I am currently finishing up with my apprenticeship and will soon challenge the state boards for my license. I was compelled to go into this business/field after loosing several very close family members. I begin to get intrigued with the death and dying process and what takes place after death in the funeral home. I am compassionate about serving grieving families, and providing the best care and service at one of the most difficult times of their life.
As. content creator. I enjoy capturing my life. I have met so many wonderful people on my YouTube Channel, collabing and networking. Meeting many different people from all walks of life is a great thing, and bring excitement to my channel. I enjoy shedding light and positivity with all that watch my content. I try to bring transparency, and a platform for others to join in and have fun!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Consistency, Positivity, and Teachable
In order to be successful in anything you do, you must strive to be consistent. When you show up inspite of how we feel and keep a positive attitude I can assure you that you will see great results in whatever you are trying to achive. Remember, we do not have all the answers. Remain teachable. Allow others to help you along the way.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When feeling overwhelmed, I take a step back ( momentarily ) to reset and reflect on my ‘why.’ When you remember why you started, it tends to snap you back into your purpose and get you back on track. Journaling, talking things out with someone in your support circle are a couple of th ways that I deal with being overwhelmed.
It is perfectly fine if you have to drop anything that consumes you and takes you off focus. If it is not needed while you are trying to obtain and reach you goals, it is okay to put a pause on it.
