We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Crystal Sepulveda a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Crystal , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
Generosity can mean so many things. I believe generosity extends beyond monetary value. I do not need much. I have lived on the streets and know what it is like to struggle for bare necessities. When I have an opportunity to give of myself, my time or my valuables I provide all that I can. When you give generously, you receive generously. when you have the opportunity to share your gifts intangible or otherwise, you should. Make the world a better place than what you found it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I own Cafe Mio a local coffee online store. A portion of our proceeds have gone to help survivors of human trafficking. We have moved to e-commerce and are looking to relaunch a brick-and-mortar shop. in Dripping Springs by the Winter 2023. We also offer job training within the Coffee experience space. We provide barista training free of charge to survivors. Coffee Shops have built in distress tolerance tools if you provide a trauma informed environment. My experience has been in the non-profit for the last ten years. I have primarily worked in at risk populations to include victims of human trafficking. I am also a survivor of familial human trafficking and domestic violence.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Grit, flexibility and kindness are the three most important qualities that have been the most impactful along my journey. Grit has gotten me through season I didn’t think I would come out on the other side. Flexibility is necessary in being able to ebb and flow through life’s ever changing situations. Kindness, you can never go wrong with being kind to others.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am looking for others who want to help me build Cafe Mio and its mission to help survivors of human trafficking. They can connect with me via email [email protected] (210)573-7401
