Meet Curtis Cunningham

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Curtis Cunningham . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Curtis below.

Hi Curtis , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I gained a lot of this through my travels around the world. I was always a very shy kid and spent most of my time by myself but always had a desire to explore the world and learn as much as I could. Finding myself in different parts of the world with people I never met before really forced me to be who I was in a respectful unapologetic way and that seem to gain a lot of state took and it allowed to discover more about myself, when people from different walks of life found things that I considered to be mundane or routine very interesting and fascinating which always sparked up conversations which led to deeper understandings of myself and how I can be the best possible version of me

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At the moment I’m very focused on my acting career. I’m a recent graduate and looking to start spreading my name and craft as far and wide as possible. I have a very artistic mindset and dabble in all forms of it wether it be writing, acting, directing, playing instruments, stand up etc… I still try to do a bit of traveling as that is part of my DNA at this point in my life I’m always looking for new experiences in different places I’ve never been to before.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Listening is never a bad skill to have and can help in so many aspects of life. Wether your in a job interview or listening to a friend rant about a bad day at work or a first date, activity listening not only helps you have a better understanding of what going on but shows those around you that you are present with them. A really good skill that I learned is how to read a map. Wether it’s on your phone or folded out in front of you, being able to understand and read a map can be life saving. A quality I have picked up is just trying to be nicer to people, I feel that most people in this world or inherently good and kind hearted and my advice you would be to follow the impulse to do something nice for someone. There is never a bad reason or bad time to be nice to someone.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
A very impactful thing my parents did for me was help me understand that importance of hard work. We were fortunate enough that we never had to struggle for things but nothing came free in our house. If there was something you wanted you had to work for it. I believe that helped shape the mindset for me coming into an artistic industry later in life then others. I know how to put in the work for this, I understand how hard it can be but want it bad enough to do the work anyways.
