We recently connected with Cybele Shana Lerman and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cybele Shana, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I love this question because I feel that self-care is the most important kind of care we can do. I see so many people caring for everyone, and everything else, and putting themselves last. And I see how this creates problems in peoples lives and often in their health.
Self care is so important to me and I do participate in it on a daily basis. Self care can be done in a variety ways depending on what you like. For me self care includes walking, going swimming or to the beach, spending time in nature, and listening to guided meditations, healings and teachings from some of my favorite teachers. My self care also includes getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods that my body likes, speaking my truths to my loved ones, and saying yes or no to other people’s requests, depending on what feels right to me.
Self care can be done on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an Energy Medicine Practitioner, Reiki Master and Teacher and Spiritual and Intuitive Life Coach and Owner of my business, Awaken To Healing. I provide transformational energy healing and coaching sessions to my clients that can include Reiki, Chakra Clearing & Balancing, Energetic Cord Cutting, Animal Reiki, Intuitive Readings and Life Coaching. I am an Ordained Minister as well. I also teach Reiki and other classes and enjoy leading workshops, and hosting spiritual events. I offer Distance/Remote Energy Healing sessions for clients around the world.
My style is soothing, peaceful, and calm. My goal for the people I serve is for them to release and let go of anything that is not serving their highest and best good. As I assist them with this, I then aim to reawaken their natural feeling of true empowerment and self-confidence. I pride myself on making people feel comfortable and creating the best environment possible for their natural and innate healing to occur.
I have seen so much amazing transformation and growth in my consistent clients, and students. It is such a joy and pleasure to see their progress and the positive results of our work together!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The first I would say is trusting in my Higher Power, God, Source, The Divine or whatever one chooses to call that force. That has always been huge for me. I have taken many leaps of faith in my life and I have always had trust and faith that things would work out for my highest good. Along with that goes my spiritual beliefs and I have always believed that there is a divine plan for my life. There can be twists and turns and I may go astray, but I believe that ultimately I will be on the right path, and so far that has been true. Even in the hard times, I have been able to see what good came out of it and the important lessons I learned through those times.
The second would be self care as I mentioned previously. I feel that we should always put our self care first, even if it’s in little ways. Some may call that selfish but I think it’s actually being a healthy individual. If we are constantly putting everyone and everything else first we will end up burned out, depleted and not able to give, or do, anything anymore from a completely empty state.
The third would be awareness of addictions and attachments. We live in a world of addiction, which doesn’t mean only to drugs or alcohol. People are addicted to a wide variety of different substances, behaviors, other people and relationships. The various addictions are generally a way for people to numb out, stay distracted, avoid pain, avoid a reality that they may not want to face or deal with, and repress trauma and unwanted emotions. My advice for people is to really look at what addictions or unhealthy attachments they have to anything outside of themselves, and take steps to heal these issues. If we are constantly living in an addicted state of distraction and avoidance how can we really heal, lead a satisfying healthy life and be of service to others and the world around us? If you need help with your addictions there are many 12 step programs available for all types of addictions. Therapy can be helpful, as well as seeing an energy healing practitioner like myself.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
I think one of the most impactful things my parents did was that they were both successful, self-employed entrepreneurs. My mother has worked as a psychotherapist for many years and my father has worked as a Feldenkrais practitioner and teacher, which is a type of specialized movement therapy. They are both in professions that help people with healing and self care, the same as me! I rarely saw my parents working for other people at a corporate 9 to 5 type of job. I think subconsciously it was a great example for me. I worked at 9 to 5 types of jobs for a little while but they always drained me and left me exhausted and unhappy. I am so grateful that I too am now a self-employed entrepreneur.
