Meet Cynthia Garcia

We recently connected with Cynthia Garcia and have shared our conversation below.

Cynthia, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I learned resilience from the matriarchs in my family.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a Latina fine jewelry designer based in Los Angeles, CA. My brand is named after both my grandmothers, Maria and Consuelo. Maria Consuelo Designs was created for discerning women treasure cultural heirlooms. We design jewelry that tells a story. We care about local and ethical production.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Perseverance. Communication. Adaptability.

While a routine and the ordinary may be nice, in order to grow you must be adaptable to situations you may not have predicted.

Perseverance to get through hardships is important. You must seek out your own light at the end of tunnels.

Communication is huge as no one knows what you are thinking unless you express it yourself.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was believe in me.

They supported my creative journey by allowing me to express myself in more ways than just one. They gave me space to explore my interests and capabilities from a very young age. They never forced a single career path on me. They allowed me to be 100% myself, 100% of the time. They instilled in me the importance of family, kindness, and hard work.
