I’m a big believer in the power of positive thinking and manifestation! It’s not just about crossing your fingers and hoping for the best – it’s about owning your power to transform dreams into reality. By staying positive and taking inspired action, we can totally shape our own destiny. Sure, it doesn’t work 100% of the time, but those are honestly the times I didn’t put in 100%. I’ve learned that when I go all in, amazing things happen! I’ve got this unwavering faith that when I put in the work, God/ the universe has my back. That’s the secret sauce to my eternal optimism!

After being in the graphic design scene for 8 years, I decided to spice things up and dive into the world of microblading and permanent makeup! But hey, I’ve always been a hustler with side gigs like valet parking, mystery shopping, and even a stint as an Uber driver. Microblading started as just another side hustle, but it quickly stole the spotlight!
Within a year and a half, I was so booked up that I realized sticking to my 9-to-5 was actually costing me money. So, I took the plunge, kissed that job goodbye, and birthed my baby: Brow Expressions by Cynthia! Fast forward 6 years, we’ve leveled up to Brow Expressions Permanent Beauty, hired an awesome team, and become Long Beach’s go-to spot for killer brows and more!
We’re not just about brows anymore – we’ve got powder/ombre brows, lip blush, lash liner enhancement, and even cosmetic teeth whitening and micro tattoos! And guess what? We’re not stopping there! We’re planning rad pop-up events, teaming up with other beauty bosses, and spreading the pampering love at discounted rates for our awesome community!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When it comes to running a microblading studio; or a small business, these are my picks for 3 top qualities that should be developed for success.
First up, we’ve got resourcefulness – the magic ingredient that turns challenges into triumphs! Running a studio means rolling with the punches and finding creative solutions to whatever comes your way. Whether it’s troubleshooting a tricky client request or brainstorming marketing ideas on a shoestring budget, being resourceful keeps the machine running!
Next on the list is mastering the art of separating business from personal. For example: you’ve had a rough day, but when you step into your studio, it’s showtime! Being able to switch gears and leave personal stuff at the door ensures that every client gets your A-game. It’s all about creating a professional atmosphere where clients feel valued and understood, no matter what’s happening behind the scenes.
Last, is the power of learning to do tasks before passing them off. Sure, it might be tempting to delegate every little thing, but there’s something special about rolling up your sleeves and diving in. From having successful consultations, to fine-tuning your social media game, getting hands-on experience builds confidence and sets the standard for your team.
So there you have it – resourcefulness, separating business from personal, and getting your hands dirty before delegating – are 3 top qualities to develop when running a small business.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
This is our dream client: she’s a powerhouse craving that extra boost of confidence and empowerment. She knows she’s fabulous inside and out, but adding a little cosmetic tattoo magic; That’s the cherry on top! Maybe she’s a victim of the infamous 90’s over-plucking or a waxing mishap – either way, those brows ain’t coming back without a little help.
Our ideal client? She’s a boss lady juggling a million things, from boardroom meetings to soccer practice, and she deserves to feel like a million bucks without the hassle.
