Meet Cynthia Spriggs

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cynthia Spriggs a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cynthia , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.

I get my generosity from my mother. She’s always been a selfless person, willing to help others whenever she can. I’ve always admired that about her, and she taught me the importance of giving from the heart. It’s something I carry with me, and I never hesitate to be generous because I believe it’s one of my strongest attributes.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My jewelry designs are inspired by the aesthetics of wild tribes and the authentic adornments of ancient cultures. I place a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, using a variety of unique, high-quality beads and metals.

The name 3Shades Chic (3SC) has a special meaning: the ‘3’ represents the three times each 3SC piece is handcrafted, ensuring exceptional quality. ‘Shades’ symbolizes the three shades of beautiful women in my family, while ‘chic’ reflects the stylish and sophisticated nature of my designs.

My upcoming events to view my jewelry collection in person are: Kunta Kinta Heritage Festival, Sept., 14, H Street Festival, Sept. 22, Clarendon Day, Sept. 28 and Takoma Festival, Oct. 6.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Surrounding myself with other entrepreneurs who can lift me up on days when I feel like giving up has been invaluable—because those days will inevitably come. Having a strong support system helps me stay motivated and keep pushing forward.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

My biggest obstacle right now is finding enough time to manage everything, especially staying consistent with social media. I struggle with this daily and would love to find the right social media expert to help me grow in this area.
