Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cynthia Villalba. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cynthia, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I was not always confident , I faced many challenges due to my dyslexia diagnosis. Growing up in a small town, I attended public schools that lacked the resources to provide personalized education. As a result, I often felt overlooked and underestimated by educators who focused on students they deemed more promising.
However, upon graduating, I pursued a Medical Assistant degree and discovered I thrived on hands-on learning. I excel in communication, particularly when discussing topics I’m passionate about. Interestingly, my experiences as a “C student” have proven beneficial, as I’ve developed an unconventional approach to decision-making. While others weigh pros and cons, I dive headfirst into new opportunities, committing fully to each project.
My decision-making process is guided by my faith, as I trust in a higher power to open doors and provide guidance. This approach has worked so far.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At Bella Bonded, we offer permanent jewelry, lash extensions, and facials, but it’s become so much more than that. My favorite part of my job is socializing and networking. I love attending local school events for career day, inspiring students who are unsure of their next steps. Through networking, I’ve met many incredible people and can connect students with mentors who can guide them.
We’ve also launched one-on-one lash extension courses, which have been incredibly rewarding to teach. Additionally, Bella Bonded has become the go-to spot for Amarillo’s girls’ night events. Each month, I partner with local women-owned businesses to host these events, providing a much-needed break from the daily routine for moms in our small community.
I’m living proof that when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. I’m grateful to have a career that allows me to socialize with amazing women while making a positive impact. Bella Bonded has evolved into a platform for connecting with my community, empowering students, and supporting local women entrepreneurs.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’ve discovered that you truly absorb the energy of your surroundings. When I’m feeling unmotivated, attending networking events always recharges my batteries. Being around fellow entrepreneurs who share my drive to succeed motivates me to keep pushing forward and reignites the excitement that can fade in daily routine.
I strongly encourage newcomers to adopt this mindset. Networking is incredibly powerful, offering countless benefits from surrounding yourself with fellow business owners. You’re not only building relationships with these entrepreneurs but also connecting with their customers. This is an excellent way to increase your visibility and get your name out there.
Many opportunities have come my way through people I’ve met while networking. My love for conversation has been a valuable asset, allowing me to seamlessly weave mentions of my business or upcoming events into everyday conversations. While promoting my work is important, I genuinely enjoy what I do, which makes sharing it with others effortless.
I don’t fear competition; instead, I welcome it. Recognizing that there are ample opportunities for everyone has helped me connect with like-minded individuals in my field. When I’m unable to attend an event, I can suggest someone else, and vice versa. Life becomes much smoother when people support and uplift each other.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Growing up, my life has been surrounded by strong, independent women. My grandmothers and mother instilled in me the value of resilience and determination. Raised alongside my three sisters, I learned early on the importance of female empowerment. Now, as a mother to three daughters, I strive to set a positive example for them.
My career choice in a predominantly female industry was a natural fit. I’ve always felt at ease surrounded by confident, driven women. As a role model for my daughters, I push myself to excel and demonstrate the value of hard work.
During large events, I involve my daughters in the process, teaching them the intricacies of planning and execution. With their eyes on me, I’m mindful of how I approach problem-solving. My mother taught me to focus on finding solutions rather than dwelling on obstacles. This mindset has been invaluable in both my personal and professional life.
Having a positive attitude is a game-changer. Intelligence and strength are important, but without the ability to adapt and overcome challenges, success is elusive. I aim to pass on these lessons to my daughters, empowering them to become confident, capable women.
