We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful D.Santos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with D.Santos below.
D.Santos, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I always do things that I enjoy doing such as going for walks, listening to music, being with my family. Taking a good self-care is the key for me to create. If I’m not in alignment with the given moment, place, and circumstances, my brain won’t let me unblock the creative block. So, staying in tune with your body and mind is how I keep my creativity alive.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
All the way from Sao Paulo, Brazil, I currently live in Minneapolis, MN. At the age of 9, I decided to learn English on my own always dreaming of being here one day. Back in 2017, I graduated in Journalism, and worked as a sports reporter in my hometown. Same year, I decided to change the course of my life after getting a job offer in the US. After that, life started having a different meaning to me. Not only because I was living one of my dreams but knowing and understanding that dreams can come true.
In 2023, I took my music to a professional level where I started working on my projects in the studio. In December of 23, I released my album debut “Ponto & Virgula” – Semicolon in ENG – featuring 10 tracks. Then, opportunities started knocking on my door in 2024 when I had my first solo set. In my third year, I have performed out of state twice – both times in Fargo, ND. 2025 has been nothing but blessings. I have been part of dope events in the Twin Cities such as Grand Old Day, in St Paul; Feria Latina, in St Louis Park; DecaFest, in Taylors Falls; Greenway Glow Festival, in Mpls; Armaversary, also in Mpls; and so many others.
However, 2025 is not over yet. On Nov 1st, I will perform twice. First, you can catch me live at Festival De Las Calaveras, at 3p. The festival will be held at Hook & Ladder, in Mpls. The second show will be at Dia De Los Muertos, at 9p. Sherwood Lounge in St Paul will host this one. In December, I’m putting on a benefit show as a fundraiser to support Unidos MN that works with and for immigrants in Minnesota for my album release show. All the proceeds will be donated with them. The lineup is ready. All the information such as place, tickets, date and time, will be shared on Nov 1st.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resilience, self-love, and optimism I see as qualities that have guided me thus far. Our journey isn’t easy – nobody said it would be -, so self-love must be within since the beginning. If you don’t do it to yourself, people won’t do it for you. Self-love can boost the unimaginable skills/qualities you’d never know that existed within yourself.
Resilience for the road. Never give up no matter how hard it is. Please, please, please, stop comparing your path to your neighbor. We are all different. We go through experiences different ways. Be bold. Be original. Be yourself. Pick yourself up how many times you need. Restart that project, that idea someone one day told you it wasn’t good enough. They don’t know nothing about what the Universe put in your heart when it sparked in yourself.
My advice to the younger generation is to trust in whatever your heart desires, listen to your body more often, take a good care of yourself. Last but not least, stop comparing your journey to your neighbor.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Without a doubt, my spiritual growth. I grew up in a catholic family like going to church twice a week, participating in church events, classes, etc. However, after moving out of country, I did not have my parents’ influences to go to church. Then, I got deeper in believing in something beyond what I could see/feel from the bible – no disrespect at all. That’s when I started feeling a stronger connection with my late grandpa. 2025 definitely shaped me to be able to communicate with my Angels and Ancestors better and clearer. Shoutout to my spouse Nat for engaging in my hippie life and not judging me.
