We caught up with the brilliant and insightful D-Win a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi D-Win, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I discovered my purpose not by chasing it, but by allowing it to unfold naturally. From the moment I stepped into the 7th grade, there was an undeniable clarity—I was born to be a rapper, a visionary, a creative force. It wasn’t something I had to manufacture or force; it flowed effortlessly, like it had been living in me all along. Songwriting and performing brought me a sense of peace, a sense of home. I believe that when you align with your soul’s calling, everything else begins to align with you.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a rapper and designer based in Los Angeles, where culture, ambition, and creativity collide. Everything I create whether it’s a lyric or a garment stems from a deeper purpose. I’m inspired by the pulse of streetwear, the essence of California living, and the elegance of luxury and wealth, all guided by a commitment to walking in God’s purpose for my life.
What makes my work truly special is the intention behind it. Every song I write and every piece I design is a reflection of the journey mine and yours. I want people to feel empowered, elevated, and seen. This summer, I’ll be releasing my new album, ‘Rolex Me Please,’ which is a celebration of perseverance, evolution, and divine timing. Alongside the music, I’ll be launching exclusive capsule drops for my clothing brand, Winfield pieces designed not just to be worn, but to be experienced.
I’m also curating immersive sound experiences through my label, Winfield Sound, where music becomes more than something you hear it becomes something you feel. These events are designed to awaken the senses and deepen the connection between artist and audience.
This isn’t just art it’s a lifestyle, and I’m inviting the world to live it with me.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three pillars that shaped my journey have been faith, persistence, and evolution. Faith was the foundation it gave me vision when the path wasn’t clear and strength when the odds were stacked against me. It kept me anchored in purpose, reminding me that I’m not just creating for today, but for something greater than myself.
Persistence was the fuel. This industry doesn’t hand out success it demands it. There were countless moments where giving up would’ve been easier, but I chose to keep showing up, to keep building, to keep believing. That discipline turned dreams into motion.
And finally, evolution being willing to grow, to refine, to transform. I’ve learned that you can’t reach new heights with an old mindset. Every level of your journey will require a new version of you, and the quicker you embrace that, the more powerful you become.
To those at the beginning of their path: protect your faith like it’s your most valuable possession. Train your persistence like a muscle use it daily. And stay open to evolving, because growth is the true luxury.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
One of the most powerful and transformative books in my journey has been the Book of Psalms in the Bible. It is more than scripture. It is a divine roadmap for the soul. In Psalms, you find raw truth, unwavering faith, and the emotional richness of the human experience. It speaks to the highs of praise and the depths of struggle, all while keeping the heart focused on God.
What makes Psalms so impactful is that it teaches you how to navigate life with grace and resilience. It is a spiritual anchor that reminds me I am never alone. No matter the battle, no matter the blessing, Psalms is a pure guideline to make it into Heaven because it constantly brings you back to humility, worship, repentance, and trust in divine timing.
