We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daena Gomez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daena below.
Daena, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem over time, through both challenges and small victories. When I first started my design studio, there were plenty of moments when I questioned myself — whether I was good enough, whether people would connect with my vision. But I kept showing up. Each project, each client, and each challenge taught me something new, and little by little, that built my confidence.
I’ve realized that confidence doesn’t come from having all the answers — it comes from trusting yourself enough to figure things out as you go. For me, design became a mirror. It reflected not only my creativity but also my growth. The more I leaned into my authentic style and stopped comparing myself to others, the more grounded I became.
Today, my self-esteem comes from knowing I’ve created something meaningful — spaces that inspire people and a business that reflects who I am. That sense of purpose is what keeps me grounded and confident, no matter what comes next.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the founder and lead designer of Design Studio & Co. Interiors, where I focus on creating spaces that feel beautiful, authentic, and deeply personal. My journey into design really started with a love for how spaces can shape the way we feel how a home can tell a story, create comfort, or spark inspiration. What began as a passion slowly grew into something bigger, and now I get to do what I love every day helping people create homes that truly reflect who they are.
What excites me most about my work is the transformation not just of the space, but of the people who live in it. There’s something so special about seeing a client walk into their finished home and feel that instant sense of belonging. Every project is personal to me; it’s a collaboration built on trust and a shared vision.
What makes my studio unique is that we don’t just design for looks we design for real life. I want every space to feel lived in, loved, and layered with meaning. Whether it’s a cozy family home or a serene retreat, my goal is to create spaces that balance beauty and functionality in a way that feels effortless.
Right now, I’m focusing on expanding my portfolio with projects that highlight different styles from luxurious, curated interiors to warm, family friendly designs. I’m also exploring a few exciting collaborations that I’m really looking forward to sharing soon. At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to design spaces that connect, comfort, and inspire.”

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three things that had the biggest impact on my journey were resilience, self-trust, and a willingness to keep learning.
Resilience has been essential. Building a business and a creative one especially comes with challenges, uncertainty, and moments of doubt. There were times when things didn’t go as planned, but learning to see those moments as lessons rather than failures made all the difference. My advice would be to embrace the setbacks they often end up being your greatest teachers.
Self-trust has also been a huge part of my growth. In the beginning, I questioned my vision a lot, especially when comparing myself to others. Over time, I learned that my perspective and creative voice were my strongest assets. For anyone just starting out, I’d say: listen to your instincts. The more you practice trusting your own judgment, the more confident you become.
And finally, staying curious and always learning. Design is constantly evolving trends shift, materials change, and people’s needs grow. Keeping an open mind and being willing to learn, whether through experience, mentors, or even mistakes, keeps you growing both creatively and personally.
If you lead with passion, persistence, and authenticity, everything else starts to fall into place.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely! I love collaborating with people who are as passionate about design, creativity, and storytelling as I am. Whether it’s other designers, artists, or brands with a strong vision, I’m drawn to partnerships where we can inspire each other and create something unique together.
If you’re reading this and think we could make something special happen, the easiest way to reach me is through my social media. I genuinely enjoy connecting with like minded creatives and exploring ideas sometimes the best projects come from a conversation that starts with just a simple ‘hello.’ Collaboration, for me, is about connection, curiosity, and shared excitement for what’s possible.
