Dafina, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

“I discovered my purpose by stepping back and identifying what truly brings me joy: creating art and helping others achieve their goals. This realization led me to establish Dafina Tucker Art, which has since expanded to include two key initiatives—Artful Affair, my paint party business, and Beyond the Art, a community service program designed to connect with others creatively. Alongside this, I founded Insightful Management Company, a business dedicated to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs as they work toward their goals. Through both ventures, I am able to blend my passions for art and empowerment, creating meaningful impact in my community.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I took the leap into entrepreneurship in 2023 after starting Dafina Tucker Art in 2020 as a way to keep my passion for art alive while working a full-time job. Following a layoff in 2023, I was motivated to focus on my business full-time, leading to the rebranding of my paint party business as Artful Affair. This shift allowed me to expand my art offerings beyond party experiences, creating a distinct identity for Dafina Tucker Art.

Knowing I wanted to integrate community service into my work, I launched Beyond the Art in 2024—a program designed to bring art into underserved communities where access may be limited by cost or location. This initiative enables participants from underserved and low-income backgrounds to experience art in a meaningful and accessible way.

Finally, recognizing my strengths in organization, creativity, and strategic thinking, I founded Insightful Management Group to support small businesses and entrepreneurs with services ranging from grant writing to project management. With this company, I aim to provide essential resources to help others reach their goals while creating a dedicated space for my skills and expertise.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities, skills and areas of knowledge that I have are the following:

Adaptability and my ability to problem solve. Transitioning into full-time entrepreneurship required me to embrace change quickly and pivot my business strategies as I encountered new challenges and opportunities. This flexibility helped me rebrand and expand my offerings to better serve my vision and community needs.

Strategic thinking is another quality that I believe I have. From creating my community service program, Beyond the Art, to founding Insightful Management Group, strategic planning has been crucial. This skill has allowed me to align my passion for art and empowerment with practical business goals, helping my ventures grow sustainably.

Community-driven mindset, My dedication to making a positive impact has guided many of my business decisions, particularly with Beyond the Art. This mindset keeps my focus on supporting underserved communities, which not only fulfills my mission but also strengthens my business by building meaningful connections with the people I serve.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

My ultimate goal is to build lasting partnerships with entrepreneurs, small businesses, schools, nonprofits, and other organizations that believe in the importance of accessible art for all.
