We recently connected with Dahye Lee and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dahye, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I believe my resilience comes from both my personal experiences and my passion for tattooing. As an artist, I’ve faced creative challenges, demanding projects, and the uncertainty that comes with this career, but each obstacle has taught me to adapt and grow. Moving to a new country and building my career in different environments has also strengthened my ability to push through difficulties and stay focused on my goals. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn, and that mindset keeps me moving forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a tattoo artist specializing in hand-drawn illustrative tattoos, inspired by nature, animals, and delicate aesthetics. What I love most about tattooing is the connection with my clients—each piece is a collaboration and a lasting part of their story.
Right now, I’m focusing on expanding my work in Los Angeles and creating new flash designs that reflect my evolving style. I’m excited to keep pushing my creative boundaries and sharing my art with more people!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One of the most important qualities in my journey has been the courage to embrace challenges without fear. Stepping into the unknown—whether it’s trying a new artistic approach, moving to a new city, or working with different clients—has always led to growth and new opportunities.
For those just starting out, I’d encourage them to take risks and not be afraid of making mistakes. Every challenge is a chance to learn and refine your skills. The more you push yourself beyond your comfort zone, the more confidence and resilience you’ll build along the way.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Right now, my biggest challenge is adapting to a new environment while building my career in LA. Moving to a different country means embracing a new culture, meeting new people, and navigating a completely different work dynamic. It’s both exciting and overwhelming at times.
To overcome this, I’m exploring different artistic styles and pushing my creative boundaries. Experimenting with new techniques allows me to grow as an artist while also connecting with a wider audience. Every experience helps me evolve both personally and professionally.
