We recently connected with Daisy Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Daisy with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic stems from my childhood. I grew up very poor in a single parent household. We didn’t have enough money to even go out to eat at resturants and I wanted to have a different life than what I was raised in. In fact, none of my family members even told me I needed to go to college, it was all me that wanted to go. I started working when I was 13 years old at a taco place. My best friend was a year older and was working there apparently they didn’t realize how young I was until I turned 14. Working very young taught me work ethic and how to manage money. When you start with a strong working background regardless of the job, you learn how to work hard your whole life. I had to work so hard at the ages of 13 through 16 I decided to drop out get my GED and go to community college instead of finish High School. I had two full years of Community College under my belt while supporting myself before my high school class graduated.
The second thing that has motivated me was being a mother. I lost my own mother when I was 18 and I didn’t have backup financially or physically when I became a mother so I had to succeed at everything I did. Luckily I learned to make good grades in college and did amazing through nursing school. Once I was a nurse, I started my business on the side for meds spa procedures.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a registered nurse with over 15 years of experience in a critical care background. I own the award-winning A Nurse’s Touch Skin Care and Med Spa in Fort Worth Texas. I am absolutely blessed to be doing what I love, and I work with the best team of women. We are a team of 5 made of Nurses and Estheticians. We offer a variety of services such as Permanent brows, Permanent eyeliner,& Permanent Lip Blushing. We offer Electrolysis permanent hair removal which is the only method that’s legally permanent on the market. We offer custom facials, peels, hydra Glow facials & Procell Microchanneling with stem cells for incredible skin tightening. All of our services are tailored to everybody’s skin once they come in for the appointment. A Nurses Touch Skin Care & Med Spa is not a franchise and our goal is to treat people’s individual needs. We also are excited to announce that we launched our MedSpa services this year. I hired the best nurse injector I could find. Amy has over 7 years of experience as an injector. We offer Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Cheek fillers, full face fillers & lip fillers, and more. Since I own the business, I make sure that we always have the best prices in town for all our services and currently we are $50 off all new patients for our Med’s Spa. A Nurses Touch Spa has been blessed to get over 482 five-star reviews on Google because we put our patients first. Making sure people are happy, is our number one goal!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the most common misconception for a person that wants to open a business is that people believe that talent will dictate the success of a business. The talent you deliver is important, but the building of a good business is just as valuble. The next question I have for people, if they say they want to open any business is, “what is the market saturation in the area for the service or business they want to offer” Do they need this talent or skill or business here or can you corner the market away from your competitors? Learning that market saturation, marketing for new customers, ease of booking and access are just as important as the skills offered. I honestly had to Google which is the best search engine. Where is the best place to put my money for marketing? How to get more Google reviews, which are crucial. Thanks to the internet. If you don’t know how to do something, you can learn about it for free!
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
After 8 years of owning A Nurses Touch Skin Care Spa. As a nurse with 3 estheticians, I finally decided to launch my medical spa part. The medical director, legalities, marketing, and more, have been the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced. I have the customer base and the platform. But I have jumped through more paperwork and hurdles and trademark rights to use the word Botox and more. The only good thing about doing something very hard is. There’s usually less competition. But I’m glad I started my business with the easier services. It has been stressful for me but I laugh because I feel everyone’s new business plan ends up being more time, more work, and more money than originally anticipated lol. I am blessed to have the success I do. All big businesses start with a small idea you can not let go.
