Meet Daivion Crawford

We recently connected with Daivion Crawford and have shared our conversation below.

Daivion, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Keeping my drive alive is a challenge at times. Every genius reaches a point where they feel like unispired or burnt out. But the best way to keep that hunger is to just simply remember why you started in the first place. That past you grew exponentially , you’d be suprised at how much you’ve grown in aspects and areas that was lacking before. Sometimes I might just take a walk to get fresh air and get inspired, hangout with my family, or just spend some alone time and let the creative thoughts come to me

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Im an jack of all trades. I engineer/record music, produce clothes in house , I also make a ton of graphics and websites. Purgatory is my main focus as of right now. Before I fell in love with music designing clothes has been apart of me since I can remember I started a brand in 8th grade grew out of it and stopped dabbling with clothes for some time to fous on music. I’d say I stopped doing clothes for like 2-3 years then just rebranded what I wanted to represent to the people tht woud stick. We just launched our first official drop for the summer 4 tee shirts that are oerfect for the summer. And i cant forget about the music I know all the readers are eager to know whats next for me. Honestly ive been making some of the best music in my life , Arachnophobia is the title of my next project and I must say its like an awakening for me only because the music isnt comparable to anything that i’ve made before. It would be nights where I dont sleep streaking making songs or there could be nights when im on the Ipad just doodling things from my head. The most exciting part about all of this though is that I have the power to visuallly and sonically display whats inside my brain and share that with other people. Execution of an idea that started out as a figment of your imagination is specia to me knowing I have the ability to do that makes me feel like I can do anything in the world if I sat there and put my mind to it.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that I can say were the most impactful on my journey as an creative were consistency, respect, and compassion. You can not like someones work and what they present to people as a person but you should still respect the person as a human being, as an creative. Treating people with equality in the world despite of religious beliefs or views on life. You recieve what you put out if your acting like a douche then you aren’t going to attract the respect that you are looking for. Staying consistent with anything you do is also important. Making sure your content gets put in there face as many times as possible, on every platform there is. It helps in the long run your viewers love to see you constantly doing new things or just seeing you inspired creating things. Learning to be more compassionate helped me more too. By being more understanding and thinking about my responses before I actually respond it helped me create alot of new friendships. If you are hesitant on these things its fine things like this take time dont view me as some person whose just so outgoing. Im not just some social butterfly but you have to be willing to spead your wings and break out your comfrot zone

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents ever did for me was just allow me to be myself. My parents never tried to force me to wear things I didnt like. It came to a point where I started to dislike collar polo shirts as an kid and I told my mom. She did not force me to continue being inside something that didnt make me feel comfortable. My parents always allowed me to be alive and be myself. Never pressured me to do sports that I didnt like if I didnt like it it wasnt happening.
