We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Daljit Kaur a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Daljit, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
When I was 13, my parents made a life-changing decision to move me from a village school to a larger institution to provide me with a brighter future. Until then, I had studied in Punjabi, my mother tongue, and was considered one of the top students. Suddenly, I found myself in a big building surrounded by kids who only spoke English. This marked the beginning of my journey with imposter syndrome and feeling out of place. Being raised with a perfectionist mindset only added to the challenge. The first two years were incredibly tough. The kids around me made sure I felt like an outsider, which led to feelings of inadequacy, fear, and nervousness. This experience laid the foundation for my imposter syndrome.
In my first year, I tried to hide and keep quiet, often experiencing anxiety just thinking about going to school. However, knowing my parents were investing all their hard-earned money in my education gave me the strength and purpose to persevere. To cope, I turned to my mother’s faith and surrendered myself to God. I asked for God to be my champion and friend, which gave me the inner strength to face each day with confidence. Believing I was not alone, and that God would protect me, helped me navigate that challenging phase of my life.
Fast forward to 2013, when I turned 18 and moved to Canada. The feelings of being an outsider and not being good enough resurfaced. This time, my faith alone wasn’t enough, as my adult mind began to question it. Seeking ways to cope with my imposter syndrome, I stumbled upon Tony Robbins’ motivational videos, which introduced me to personal development. I immersed myself in inspirational and uplifting content, learning and applying techniques from Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Bob Proctor, Oprah Winfrey, APJ Abdul Kalam, BK Shivani, and many others.
Consciously working to transform my negative and doubting thoughts into positive ones enabled me to overcome my imposter syndrome and reach my potential. The result? I earned a scholarship, secured a job right after college, and became one of the youngest managers at my workplace.
Also, all of this happened because I had a strong “why.” My parents’ unwavering devotion and dedication, as they poured all their savings into supporting my education, filled me with immense gratitude and a determined will to stay strong. Their sacrifices fueled my resolve to persevere and succeed., and inspired me to not give up!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
When I first started looking for a job as an immigrant, I struggled to understand the needs of the job market. I had a hard time positioning myself due to cultural and communication barriers. It was incredibly frustrating knowing that I deserved a position or a promotion, but my lack of presentation skills, communication proficiency, and limiting beliefs were holding me back.
I took the time to diligently improve these areas, and now I can pass that knowledge along to help others overcome similar challenges. This passion for helping others succeed is what led me to launch my coaching business.
I specialize in empowering mid-to-senior-level immigrant professionals to relaunch their careers in Canada. By providing clarity and confidence, I help them excel in interviews, land their dream jobs, achieve financial independence, and feel truly empowered in their career journey.
I assist them in:
Building a Strong Foundation by Overcoming Mindset Blocks
Creating Market Value to succeed in their professional goals
Building a Legacy to give back to their communities
What makes me unique to work with is that I’ve walked the same path they are on, serving as a one-stop shop for addressing mindset challenges, advancing careers, fostering entrepreneurship, and handling all immigration-related requirements.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Please find below a description of my ideal client:
Meena is an ambitious immigrant woman who recently moved to North America. She is passionate about personal development but is currently struggling with low self-esteem after relocating to a new state. Meena feels stuck and confused, facing a lack of clarity about the job market. Despite being told she’s talented, she struggles with self-doubt, confidence issues, and anxiety.
During interviews, Meena often feels overwhelmed and draws a blank, feeling intimidated by the process. She finds herself endlessly applying for jobs but rarely hears back, which she attributes to her lack of people skills. While she is confident in her hard skills, she recognizes that her soft skills need improvement to advance her career.
At 32, Meena is newly married and has eight years of experience as an Operations Manager in her home country. She is anxious about having to start over after working so hard to reach a certain level in her career. Her ego makes it difficult for her to embrace starting anew, as she compares herself to her peers and feels left behind. The transition has been bittersweet, with mixed emotions about leaving her comfortable life behind and embarking on this new journey.
Meena constantly struggles with thoughts like “I’m behind” and “I’m not good enough,” feeling as if life is passing her by. Every rejection she faces in the job search takes a toll on her, and she often takes these setbacks personally. She knows she’s intelligent but finds it challenging to separate her self-worth from job titles. Meena is also unsure how to leverage her transferable skills effectively in this new environment.
