We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DALLAS JOHNSON a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi DALLAS, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
That’s a great question. I started working at the age of 11 Babysitting, I worked at a Soda/ice Cream shop at the Landings growing up. Those were formative years that made me “learn” new, exciting and different things I enjoyed. I went on to do some modeling and acting at a young age. I fell in love with it and went to the end of the world to make those dreams come true. At 10, I started modeling and enjoyed those times with my Mom. We travelled everywhere and she supported me 100%. She was always great at making me feel better about myself when I didn’t think I was good enough. Both my Mom and Dad had a wonderful work ethic. My Mom was Head Nurse in the ER. She was terrific at her job. My Dad managed his Company and would go to work with him a lot. I think having parents who were tenacious, successful and worked hard themselves was really where I learned to love what I do and knew that I could do anything. Working hard is just what I’ve always done. I find it makes me the happiest bc my job isn’t really a job. It’s my life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have always been a little entrepreneurial since I was young. So starting my own business isn’t that surprising. My love for animals is almost more than the love I have for people. I would rather spend most of my time with peaceful, loving and the most precious things to me on this Earth, animals.
I started a Pet Sitting and Dog Walking company. I love taking photos of our visits and adventures. I love making animals happy and capturing that in camera for their owners. I do dog walks during the week, families out of town where I do visits and I have clients that go out of town and need me for Overnights. I need LOVE and they do too. And that’s what I feel everyday being with any animals. My life is overjoyed with the time I get to spend with them.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the three things I’ve learned along the way is Customer Service working at all kinds of different jobs in Los Angeles while pursuing Acting. Living in a bigger city allowed me to be able to meet really tenuous, successful, artistic, intelligent people. So having a lot of Industry and Artists friends brought out my more creative side. And lastly, we’ve all had some traumas in our life but the most peaceful and the most healing I ever was able to help me through it and that was my dog. And that’s when I knew that’s where I want to spend my days with!
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is someone who is loyal and trusts me wholeheartedly to take their babies out on Adventure trips, hiking, swimming or just to get out of the house to do fun things besides just a neighborhood walk. I don’t like yo sit around ( unless the clients pets are older) and get them out and having fun. Making the animal happy. I take photos and update clients so it’s so fun to see them happy fun! And the clients love seeing that too!
