Meet Damai Rinjani

We recently connected with Damai Rinjani and have shared our conversation below.

Damai, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my sense of direction through a process of self-reflection and self-exploration, which eventually manifested into an art form. Channeling what I have experienced and felt into artistic expressions is, to me, a bonus that I can enjoy. This method serves as an additional way to reassess the direction I aim to pursue. Without art, I may perceive my goals differently, but art has undoubtedly become a second breath, propelling me forward towards my ultimate goal of finding happiness in life.

Engaging in artistic activities, whether publicly or not, provides me with a sense of relief, aiding me in life and in seeking a livelihood. Even basic needs are intertwined with visuals, requiring an artistic touch. Therefore, living life through art makes each day seem lighter, as I now understand what I must do to keep living and find peace – that is, to work with an artistic soul. Peace, love, and cheers.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am currently focusing on graphic design and working on several design commissions, especially typography designs, most of which are for T-shirts. So, you can find me on Instagram @damairinjani. I also sell my original artwork on print-on-demand T-shirts through Everpress. I am still creating artworks, both digital and manual. At the moment, I am planning to get back into actively creating art and will devote myself to it intensively because I realize that my main roots lie in artistry.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
All three of these are very important because they are interrelated: qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge. Without a solid area of knowledge, even with good execution skills, it doesn’t result in good quality. So for me, these three elements cannot be separated and must be continually honed. I keep seeking knowledge and practicing skills to create something of quality.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
The challenge I’m facing is consistency because currently, I have many things to do, which sometimes makes it difficult for me to stay consistent and focused in one area. However, I believe this challenge will yield satisfying results.
