Hi Damian, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I always review my work and give an honest assessment of my content. I usually come back from the assessment with the confidence that I belong in any room.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the host of The Real Deal with Damian Adams, podcast. On the show, I cover the NFL, NBA, and Boxing.
I am also a content creator on social media @TheRealDealwDA. Where I create content about the NFL, NBA, Boxing, and sports betting.
My first love is writing. I write articles for realdealtakes.com.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The first quality you need to be successful in sports media is the “want to”. You have to really want this because it is not easy. There will be times where you want to give up and that “want to” will keep you going.
The second quality you need is the ability to research. You have to be very detailed and deligent in your research as fans are very knowledgable and will know if you did not do your research.
The third quality is the ability to turn that research into entertaining content. Its not enough to just know your stuff. You have to find a way to be your true self but still capture the attention of listeners, readers, and viewers.
The advice I would give to anyone who wants to be in sports media is to do it for the love. If you chase the dream, the money comes along with it.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking to collabarate with other sports content creators who love the NBA, NFL, and/or boxing.
