Meet Damola Ademiluyi

We recently connected with Damola Ademiluyi and have shared our conversation below.

Damola, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I was raised in a household of love. My parents made me believe anything is possible with prayer and hard work. They regularly encouraged entrepreneurship and building a business where there was no limit to success and I could build my own path.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

At Lumeco Energy, I lead a mission-driven team focused on making clean energy more accessible, affordable, and impactful—especially for underserved communities. We specialize in energy efficiency improvements, electrification, and solar installations for both residential and commercial properties. What sets us apart is not just what we do, but why we do it: we believe energy upgrades should deliver triple bottom-line results—social, environmental, and economic benefits.

Our work helps homeowners and small businesses lower their energy bills, improve indoor air quality, and reduce their carbon footprint. For many of our clients, these upgrades are life-changing—cutting monthly expenses while increasing comfort, safety, and long-term property value. We’re especially proud to support low-to-moderate income households through grant-funded programs and workforce development initiatives that train local residents for green jobs.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities have been especially impactful in my journey: leveraging technology, cultivating confidence, and building a strong network. Learning how to use technology to streamline operations was critical—especially in the early stages of running a business with limited capital and no full team. Tools that automate tasks or improve efficiency can help you operate like a larger company while staying lean.

Confidence was equally important. I’ve always believed that if something is possible, then it’s possible for me—and that mindset has helped me push past doubt and keep moving forward, even when the path wasn’t clear. And finally, your network truly is your net worth. The relationships you build can open doors, provide mentorship, and sustain your growth in ways no textbook ever could.

My advice to anyone just starting out? Start. Business plans and technical skills are important, but momentum is everything. Don’t wait for perfect conditions. You’ll learn, adapt, and grow along the way—the most valuable lessons often come from the doing.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Still to this day, the one book that truly changed everything for me is Rich Dad, Poor Dad. It shifted my entire perspective on money, entrepreneurship, and the importance of building assets over trading time for income.
