We were lucky to catch up with Dan Guindon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dan, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic came from my father. He was very successful in his line of work, but he never rested on his laurels. He continued to work hard. When I got into broadcasting, I worked under men that didn’t have a strong work ethic. I learned how to do the opposite by seeing them make mistakes and learning from them myself.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I produce video for businesses, large and small, for use on their website and social media platforms. Since I am a storyteller, I take pleasure in producing the story of how a person or group of people started their business, especially when it becomes a success. I also produce testimonials for my clients that are based off of interview I conduct with their customers.
Dan Boy Video Productions is just one of my production companies. The other is Golden Grand Piano, which I co-foundered with my partner, actor and model, Chelsea LeSage. We produce independent films.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most important quality to have is a strong work ethic. Without that, you can get complacent and fall behind. Surrounding yourself with quality people who have positive attitudes and a strong knowledge of the projects you work on is important as well. Every project that you work on through video production is a story. You have to develop that storytelling desire and manage it properly by staying on top of all the new technology out because it comes fast and often.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Partnerships with collaborators is a huge help in video production. I w
ouldn’t be as successful without the collaborations I have had over the years, including the current one I enjoy with Chelsea LeSage. Since there are always new stories to tell, you should be looking for more people to work with and learn from. If someone feels the same way I do, I invite them to reach out to me through my website, danboyvideoproductions.com or email me danguindon@danboyvideoproductions.com.
