We were lucky to catch up with Dan Quisol recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dan, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
Living in the South as a half-Filipino, half-Puerto Rican male, I’ve always had a hard time fitting in. Most social circles down here are predominantly Black, White, or Hispanic, and I don’t speak Spanish. In addition to the ethnic differences, I often find myself being the youngest person in the group. Despite these challenges, I’ve learned to be effective and successful by being true to myself. Diversity is something to be celebrated! The things that make us different are often our greatest strength. I’ve found that I am most successful in life when I stay true to my character and how God made me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I live in Greensboro, NC with my wife Paulina and our daughter Ava. I work from home full-time for a company called Proton, providing IT Support for automotive clients across the US. As a Helpdesk Supervisor, I have the privilege of building up my team to be the best they can be at helping our clients. It’s been really rewarding seeing my guys succeed, and I’m really grateful to be able to work from home.
When I’m off the clock, I’m usually working with Paulina on our music project, “Leclère”. We just released our debut album “Confide”, available on all streaming platforms! If you’d like to support our project, please visit our website at lecleresounds.com where you can grab a copy of our CD and other cool merch!
In addition to making music, I’ve recently gotten into woodworking/building. This year, I received a grant from the Arts Council of Greater Greensboro (ACGG) to build a music studio in our backyard called “The Music Annex”. It’s been a fun and challenging experience constructing an entire building from the ground up!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most important quality to have is faith. People will tell you “trust the process”, but you have to have faith in the One who controls the process! Putting your trust in God is the only way to truly live out your purpose. In order to put our trust in Him, we have to know what His Word says. Meditate on His Word daily, and your calling will become more clear. Lastly, learn to love yourself and others well. “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” (Colossians 3:14). Love God, love people, and the rest will fall into place.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We’re still fairly new to Greensboro, so we’d love to collaborate with fellow musicians, Christians, artists, event planners, booking agents, or any type of artists in the area! If you’re reading this and want to collaborate, send me a message on Facebook or Instagram @danielquisol or send an email to [email protected]. We’d love to connect!
