Meet Dana Rebmann

We were lucky to catch up with Dana Rebmann recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dana, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Long before I became a features writer, I learned how to write and report quickly in a handful of television newrooms. Long days, late nights, and last-minute working weekends were the norm.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I tell stories that hopefully make people smile. About beautiful places in the world and the folks that call them home. About amazing people striving to make their community better. About fun things you can do when you want to travel with friends and family or to rest and recharge.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Organization: There’s so many notes and details that come across my desk. They may spark an idea next week or next year. Being able to find contacts and information when I need them is key.

Perseverance: Rejections from editors and publications are part of a normal day for freelance writers. You have to be able to shake it off.

Curiousity; I find it sparks the best stories.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

The publishing industry is changing at a rapid pace. What it looks like in 5 – 10 may be dramatically different.
