We caught up with the brilliant and insightful D’Angelo LaVelle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
D’Angelo, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My purpose was discovered in a season of transition. A transition where relinquishing my dreams for God’s desires for my life became priority. Quickly learning that my obedience to these divine desires and instructions were the keys to fully walking in my calling. Also, understanding your purpose is always greater than you and when operating in it effectively, it becomes a conduit of self-discovery for those around you. So, as I began journeying this new space, it was revealed that working in the Fashion, Film and Entertainment industry wasn’t solely my life’s assignment, but in serving the needy physically, financially, and spiritually; while spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
The entity and non-profit organization we serve and operate under is ‘Hope Road Mininstries”. Established in 2021, mid pandemic, our goal is to help re-build homeless communities with adequate living resources, financial assistance; while also providing opportunities to grow in the knowledge, faith and word of God. Sharing the “good news” of God’s creation, offering prayer, and becoming a beacon of light and truth for other people’s salvation.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The qualities that became the most effective and impactful on my journey was in developing patience, obedience, and maintaining my humility. I learned with being patient, you have to become an active listener to fully hear and understand someone needs. Understanding this was not a place to judge or condemn anyone who have been misplaced out of their homes and suffering homelessness, but offer practical solutions, hope and compassion that things will, and can get better.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, Hope Road Ministries is always looking to partner with those individuals with a willing heart and serving attitude to join our team and assist us in fighting this global crisis both physically and spiritually, As part of this battle is understanding that the war is not just in flesh and blood, but in the principalities and unseen wickedness we can’t see, while standing on the frontlines with us, to win back the lost souls to the Kingdom of God.
