We were lucky to catch up with Dangiuz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dangiuz, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?
To me self-discipline comes from necessity more than virtue.
I grew up with the feeling that if I didn’t impose structure on myself, nothing would happen. No one was going to hand me time, focus, or momentum. So discipline became a survival tool, not a moral stance. You learn pretty quickly that inspiration is unreliable, but habits aren’t.
I treat discipline like scaffolding: it’s there so the work can exist. Once the work starts flowing, discipline fades into the background, but without it nothing gets built. I show up every day not because I feel inspired, but because showing up is what creates the conditions for inspiration to appear later.
In short: discipline didn’t come from motivation, rather from understanding that if I wait to feel ready, I’ll never make anything.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Leopoldo D’Angelo (born July 11, 1995, in Turin), better known by his pseudonym Dangiuz, is an Italian contemporary visual artist and art director specializing in digital art with strong sci‑fi and cyberpunk influences. His style, often called “Romantic Cyberpunk,” combines futuristic landscapes, dystopian architecture and melancholic atmospheres, frequently featuring a black cat as a symbolic signature.
Dangiuz has exhibited internationally and received worldwide coverage in media outlets such as Juxtapoz, Wallpaper* and NVIDIA Studio.
His art explores the intersection of technology, society, and futuristic imagination, establishing him as a notable figure in contemporary digital art with record breaking sales at great auction houses such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s and digital art platforms such as SuperRare.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Mastery of digital tools and 3D concept art techniques
To me, knowing software like Cinema 4D and Octane Render was about turning imagination into something you can hold on a screen. The trick is to treat the software as part of your eye. For anyone starting out, focus on finishing small projects over endlessly learning tutorials. Consistency matters more than perfection.
2. Visual storytelling and composition
Cyberpunk is not just neon and rain. You can’t slam a blue filter on a picture and call it Cyberpunk. Study cinematography, photography, urban environments. Try recreating real textures digitally. Understanding how reality reads to the eye makes your futuristic visions feel alive.
3. A clear, cohesive aesthetic voice
Recognizability is everything. People should see a piece and know it is yours. This comes from iteration, experimentation, and deciding what truly fits your vision. Early on, do not scatter your style across trends. Refine one voice first. Study references obsessively, understand why they feel real, and then make them yours.
Advice for anyone starting out:
Finish what you start! Observation is your best teacher and repetition is essential. Your first hundred attempts are practice, the hundred and first starts to define you 🙂

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I’m grateful to my parents for not imposing anything on me. Although I grew up in a low-income household, they never forced me to work or attend university and always gave me the time to experiment and learn new things. They saw something in me, my passion for tech and creativity, and that is priceless to me. I will always be grateful to them for this.
