Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dani Matthews. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
DANI, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
The one thing I have learned in my time here on earth is:
People are gonna talk about you if you do good, people are gonna talk about you when you have done wrong, or not so good.
And lastly HARERS are gonna HATE.
Th job for them.
People will talk about people’s shortcomings, before they will pray for them.
I have learned that in all the times I have fallen, only my will☺️ ,and faith, got me back up..
Noone is gonna save me, with their cape on.
Nobody can stop me from succeeding either..
Simply put, what they eat do t make me poop.
The opinion of the nay Sayers haven’t paid not one bill for me yet..
And as long as I keep that front and center, I AM ALREADY WINNING!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
By trade, I am a Chef, and have been in the food industry for about 15 years, however GOD called me to the ministry years prior to that.
I was Ordained as a Deacon, and was the outreach director for the less fortunate..
I believe this was by design, being that I experienced a pretty tumultuous upbringing.
This being the case, and always using writing to escape the dysfunction and abuse that I experienced, I finally stepped out on faith to complete the circle of continuous healing by birthing my Memoir.
“Pretty Little Bastard Child” (Memoir of the Darkness that turned on GODS light).
I have embarked upon my author and motivational speaking journey, which is shaping up to be amazing..
By this time next year, the ultimate goal is to have a TV series directly from the Memoir.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I was a fighter, and didn’t realize my strength, until I needed to be strong
My Faith was/is unshakable because of the Darkness that my past made me develop.
Courage wasn’t always my friend, especially in times of trauma..
But as I got my life back, I realized that all I had to do was show up to the fight, PREPARED..
GOD would do the rest.
Fear and Faith, cannot exist in the same space..
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I am open to being teachable in the literary field
But I also am learning to trust my own instincts.
I am betting on me more than ever.
I can only be me when it is all said and done.
I can only speak and do what I have knowledge of, which is my story.
I have to believe that GOD has brought me to this place and time, bro help someone else whom is stuck where I once was.
