Meet Daniel Delapenha

We recently connected with Daniel Delapenha and have shared our conversation below.

Daniel, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I must give all credit to my mother, Rose, and life itself. She always maintained a job, residual income, and multiple sources of income. She also believes in constantly evolving, which are both detrimental attributes to have on board. Multitasking and exercising my creativity also play a major role in being one step ahead of the game.

In my eyes, the idea of working for someone else was always a temporary situation. I would never see myself working for a company until retirement unless it was my very own. The fact that we’re all just expendable also stayed front and center in my thought processes. All while knowing that it was all just stepping stones to what awaits me in the future. Working for yourself and building something that can sustain your livelihood is amazing in itself. Building your own will always be better than building for someone else.

What keeps me going on days that I feel like giving up is the fact that I’ve built a company from the ground up and am still building. After such a point, there’s no turning back. One must continue on and see it through. The fruits of your labor are far better when you actually plant them all yourself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Daniel Stewart Delapenha. I am the owner of “Influence Getem” (I’m A Problem Brand Clothing by Influence Getem) and have been registered with the state of New Jersey since 2012 for e-commerce. Established 23 years prior. “Influence Getem’ is my artist/business name. I’ve done everything from making music with legends in hip-hop  to acting with Hollywood actors, all while creating designs for my brand. I’ve recently launched two stores online. The main one is located at redbubble.com. Both are “Fortune 500”, suggestions for independent artists to market merchandise. The other location is at FineArtAmerica.com.
My brand is called “I’m A Problem Brand Clothing by Influence Getem”. I have everything from clothing to tech excesses, home decor, and more. Furthermore, my brand is an expression of myself and is relatable to several consumers throughout the world 🌎 I sell to customers globally as well as locally, andI haveh plenty of satisfied buyers.
Currently, I’ve also wrapped up a bunch of music projects with some legendary artists and producers and is very excited about the collaborations all together.
As for acting roles, things have slowed and been very challenging due to everything that’s been happening between The Strikes and COVID. I am blessed to have multiple talents that allow me to survive. One can’t depend on just one stream of income in these days and times. Numerous forms of residuals are required in order to maintain and sustain everything in an orderly fashion.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’m a natural at marketing and promoting, so everything fell into place regarding getting noticed. I’m also very tech-savvy, as you know. I’m great with dealing with the public, which is detrimental when doing business. I view everything as business and don’t look for pleasure. Pleasures will come naturally along the way. I’d advise anyone who is starting out to stick with whatever it is they are pursuing. See it through, no matter what. Also, don’t let relaxation hinder your growth. They have a huge tendency to do that to the best of us. Many years of advancement can be lost by being distracted. You can’t get those years back. Try to do most things yourself and never ask anyone for anything. Many will act as if they are for you, but they really aren’t. This false act is just in case you become somebody to everybody. The closer you get to becoming that success story, the more you’ll notice people who weren’t supportive suddenly being supportive. The best thing one can do is act broke, so you can see where people are mentally. See where one’s integrity lies before having dealings of any kind. Otherwise, disappointment will usually follow

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
The past 12 months has been bittersweet with plenty of success, but lots of death. I found some inspiration to make music and did so. This is very difficult now since I don’t like where the music industry is at nowadays, nor do I care for the music that I come across. I often am disappointed in listeners more so than the ones that puts the bad music out to begin with. So this is all huge for me.
