Meet Daniel Di Biase

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daniel Di Biase. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Daniel, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

To keep my creativity vibrant, I draw inspiration from reading about the masters like Da Vinci and Michelangelo, learning about their creative processes and their pursuit of excellence. Regular visits to museums also play a crucial role, immersing me in a world of artistic excellence and broadening my perspective. This blend of historical insight and firsthand experience with art fuels my creativity, continuously sparking new ideas and approaches in my work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Daniel Di Biase. My artistic signature is a meticulously crafted fine line black and grey that merges the essence of Renaissance visual culture with contemporary aesthetics. My approach prioritizes a collaborative relationship with my clients, aiming to create a body of work that is deeply meaningful and tailored to complement the distinct anatomy of each individual.. With most of my sessions being full day commitments, and projects taking multiple sessions, I have a unique opportunity to connect with my clients. Over the course of our journey together I am able to get to know them on a deeper level, allowing me to create pieces that are more personal to them. I’m currently taking appointments in Dana Point where I am a resident artist at The Black Lantern Tattoo Studio, owned by my good friend, London Reese.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I’ve been very lucky to get the opportunity to work alongside some of my greatest inspirations in the tattoo field. People whose work has impacted me long before I ever picked up a machine. When I was working alongside my mentor Noah Minuskin at Hous Studios in Los Angeles I gained invaluable insights that significantly enhanced my skills. The most profound lesson was learning to delve deeper into my own being and to perceive the world artistically, enabling me to draw inspiration from my surroundings. This has guided me to produce artwork that is not only meaningful but also crafted with deliberate intent.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who is open to the creative process and feels a real connection to the art from. Building a collection of quality work is a journey in itself and they embrace it as such.
