Meet Daniel Jackson

We recently connected with Daniel Jackson and have shared our conversation below.

Daniel, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Before my current career path as the owner of the photography and video production company, Embassy: Interactive, I founded a website with the same name. Embassy: Interactive aimed to connect entertainment enthusiasts with interviews, music, and film work created by talented individuals who deserved more recognition. Through this venture, I discovered that my true passion lay in being a conduit for spreading awareness about others’ talents and passions. Whether curating music or creating content, I found immense gratification in using my skill set to amplify their voices. Although Embassy: Interactive no longer operates in the same way, my commitment to collaborating with individuals and organizations dedicated to improving their audiences’ experiences remains unwavering.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Absolutely! I work as a freelance photographer, video producer, and the proud owner of Embassy: Interactive, my small business. Through Embassy: Interactive, I create content for clients who hire me. Our primary focus is collaborating with creatives, community-based organizations, nonprofits, and small businesses. What excites me most about my work is its diversity—each project brings unique challenges and takes me to different places. Currently, I’m deeply engaged in projects that amplify the City of Philadelphia’s efforts to reduce violence and addiction. Additionally, I collaborate with organizations dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in often overlooked areas.

On a personal note, I recently launched my first solo photography exhibition at Penn State Brandywine, celebrating Black History Month. The exhibition, titled ‘Black Joy in Philadelphia,’ holds immense significance for me. It’s a tribute to the vibrant spirit and resilience of the Black community in the city.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As I work towards scaling my business, effective management stands out as one of the most impactful skills. Before dedicating myself full-time to my business, I managed a union-led cleaning company with 26 employees, overseeing more than a million square feet. This experience taught me the art of delegation and the importance of relinquishing control to achieve more. By doing so, I’ve been able to focus on growing my business without it consuming me entirely. Additionally, managing people has honed my interpersonal skills.

Beyond management, other crucial skills have played a role in my journey. First, I’ve remained a constant student in my craft, always learning and evolving. Knowing my cameras inside out and establishing a distinct visual style have been essential. Secondly, resilience—a tough skin—is vital for anyone running a business, especially when artistic aspects matter deeply. The delicate balance between creativity and practicality can be challenging.

My best advice for those starting their journey is to seek out mentors. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors both in the artistic realm and the business world. They’ve nurtured my skills during development and continue to provide invaluable guidance as they achieve success at the highest levels.”

Remember, growth is a continuous process, and seeking guidance from those who’ve walked the path before you can be immensely rewarding.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am constantly seeking creative collaborators and individual contractors to join forces with as I strive to elevate Embassy: Interactive to a national level. While a passion for creativity is certainly a bonus, the primary requirement is to be a kind-hearted individual. Connecting with me is straightforward—simply reach out through the Contact section on our website.
