We recently connected with Daniel Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I found the best motivation is the persistence to resistance when you face resistance of failure and knockdown setback and struggle. This burns a fire deep within me to create a path of pure ignited motivation to assist persist persist against the resistance.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hey! I’m Dan from The Aspie World – I’m an autistic advocate, content creator, author, and entrepreneur. My whole mission is to help autistic and ADHD adults not just survive, but thrive in everyday life. I do this by sharing practical life hacks, relatable stories, and raw, honest content that demystifies what it’s really like living with autism.
What started as a small YouTube channel to document my experiences has grown into a global community with over 600,000 followers across platforms. I now create educational videos, run online courses, speak at international events, and work with brands to promote genuine neurodiversity inclusion.
What’s special about The Aspie World is that it’s built by someone who lives it, for people who live it. I’ve walked through the overwhelm, the burnout, the masking—and I’ve come out the other side with strategies that actually work. Sharing those with others is not just my job, it’s my passion.
Right now, I’m super focused on launching Autistic Armour, a 13-day course that helps autistic adults build mental resilience and reclaim control over their daily life. We’re also expanding our resources with new digital downloads, 1:1 coaching sessions, and collaborations with other neurodivergent creators. Oh—and yes, there’s merch coming too 😎
At the end of the day, I just want people to know that being autistic isn’t a limitation—it’s a different operating system. And with the right tools and support, you can turn your differences into your superpower.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, there were three core principles that truly shaped my journey—both personally and professionally.
1. Start before you feel ready.
Too many people wait for the “perfect time,” but truthfully, that time never comes. I’ve learned that momentum beats perfection. The earlier you start, the faster you learn, adapt, and grow. Even small steps in the right direction can lead to massive change over time.
2. Embrace failure as fuel.
Trying, failing, learning, and trying again—that cycle is where real progress happens. Failure isn’t the opposite of success; it’s a vital part of the process. Every misstep has taught me more than success ever could. Don’t fear the fall—fear standing still.
3. Take massive, consistent action.
Ideas are great, but execution is everything. I always say: action beats ideas when ideas aren’t followed by implementation. The people who succeed aren’t always the smartest—they’re the ones who keep showing up, doing the work, and going further than others are willing to go.
For anyone just starting out: adopt a “yes, I can” mindset. Outwork your competition, be willing to do the things others won’t, and never underestimate the power of showing up every single day. The path isn’t always easy—but it’s worth it.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on my journey—especially as someone who is autistic and ADHD—is that things almost always take way longer than you expect. Whether it’s growing a brand, launching a product, building a platform, or even working on personal development… the timeline in your head and the timeline in reality are rarely the same.
And that’s okay.
We live in a world obsessed with speed—overnight success, instant results, viral moments. But real, meaningful progress? That takes time. It’s not about rushing to the finish line; it’s about staying steady, focused, and intentional over the long haul.
There were so many moments where I thought, “Why isn’t this working yet?” or “Shouldn’t I be further along by now?” But what I’ve realized is that growth isn’t linear, and success isn’t instant. It’s a series of small, deliberate actions repeated consistently—even when it feels like no one’s watching, and nothing’s happening.
So here’s my advice:
Have patience. Stay steady. Move with focus.
Don’t compare your timeline to anyone else’s. Just keep showing up. Stay committed to your goal, trust your process, and remember that the most powerful momentum is often invisible until it suddenly isn’t.
The journey is slower than you think… but also more rewarding than you can imagine.
