Meet Daniel Lawrence Martinez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniel Lawrence Martinez AKA (Tunez From the Crypt). We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with him below.

So good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding your purpose is the most beautiful topic I love to talk about in life. I have a deep feeling that it is our life’s purpose to find what that is and to be courageous enough to pursue it.

It’s taken me a while to find it. Life will provide clues, and it’s your job to listen to your intuition, pay attention to the signs that the universe provides, and pursue that purpose.

To make this short, I have literally combined everything about who I am into my purpose. For example, as a kid, I was terrified of the TV show “Tales From the Crypt” and was also into the supernatural and strange occurrences in life.

I’m also an October baby, so growing up Halloween and scary movies were some of my favorite things in life. Growing up I had such a natural knack for writing and playing music but quit after elementary school. I wanted to play the drums, but my mom wanted me to play the clarinet, so I did so for her.

I noticed I was the only boy playing the clarinet, so after two years I quit as I didn’t want to go into middle school down that path. I played baseball as a late starter, and into freshman year, and was average at baseball. All of the other kids probably started at T-ball, so they had years of experience over me. I think if I would have played from an early age, I could have been pretty good.

In high school, once again I wanted to reinvent myself, so I became a “stoner.” I wanted to fit in and be cool, so I chose that route. My friends and I would hang out at a nearby park on the weekends and smoke weed and drink alcohol, and I was always the guy who brought his little speaker and played all of my favorite music on my iPod, and my friends would love the music I would play in our smoke sessions. That’s where my DJ calling began.

In high school, I fell in love with raves, the scene, the community, and everything the community stood for. I felt like I finally fit in and found my community. They practiced P.L.U.R. – Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect and were some of the nicest people I have ever met. This is where my love for electronic music began.

I have so many beautiful memories and have met some amazing people because of this scene. Everything kept calling me to be a DJ. Everything happens for a reason, and sometimes I would get these thoughts in my head or almost like a voice, as well as noticing synchronicities throughout my entire life.

In my effort to notice the signs that life throws at me, I have combined everything about myself into pursuing a career as an artist: “Tunez From the Crypt.” I also have a podcast called “Cryptic Conversations” which talks about supernatural phenomena, conspiracies, and spirituality – once again tying everything together.

I also went to college to pursue communications and work in advertising which is also due to my natural creative abilities.

If you are trying to find your purpose, I really recommend you be honest with yourself, express yourself from your soul, and find a way to make an impact on this planet. The world deserves your gifts, and it’s up to you to share them with the world.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a DJ and producer with a focus on house music. What sets me apart is my branding, and my love for the unknown, mysterious, and spiritual.

At the moment, I’m on an intense spiritual journey over the past few years after getting sober, and I’m on a mission to spread positivity through my music, and my podcast which talks about spirituality, and personal development, etc.

There are a lot of lost souls out there who don’t even know they are lost, so I’m on a mission to drive humanity forward and raise the collective frequency through the positive vibrations of the music, the contents of the podcast, and whatever other creative outlets I pursue in life.

I have my first 5 songs that have come out this year self-released, and have a new track coming out called: “One More Time” which I’m really excited to share. I’m finding my sound, and have a big vision for my artistry, the concept, and where this path can take all of us, and I’m really excited to share the art with you all. 💜

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Discernment. Intuition. Faith.

Discernment is the ability to judge and make decisions well. I have always had a unique ability to read between the lines. I’ve definitely made a lot of bad decisions, but it’s okay, as long as we learn from the mistakes.

When it comes to discernment, it reminds me of how people are oftentimes like sheep lol. They follow the trends, they always have to be surrounded by people, and they go along with the decisions of the group without an inclination to make decisions for themselves.

I think it’s important to balance alone time with social time. Lies are loud, and the truth is silent. People and circumstances will try to influence you, but discernment reminds me of the ability to make your own informed decisions based on what you feel to be right. Spend time alone. Go into nature, plant your bare feet on the ground, and let the sun hit your face. Take it all in, meditate, ask the universe for signs, express gratitude, send positive vibrations out into the world, and reap the benefits. It must be genuine, and you must have humility.

Intuition is the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. Do you ever just know something without anyone having to tell you? Trust that. They call it a gut instinct for a reason.

Lastly is faith. This life is literally a manifestation and a reflection of your inner world. You can choose fear or you can choose love. It will be hard to stay positive all of the time, but if you can surrender to the divine, and trust that the universe has your back and is orchestrating certain events in your favor, you will see beautiful things play out in your life.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
At the moment, I’d love to have an artist manager who can help me get more quality bookings and climb the ranks – so we can share spirituality, and good music with the masses.

I’d love to collaborate with people in the spirituality, events, and music spaces. I have a big vision for where all of this can go, and I’ve been doing everything by myself at the moment, but I trust that the right partnership will come along, and when that happens, things are going to grow exponentially.

If you want to get involved, feel free to reach out to me, and perhaps we can help each other grow. 💜
