Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daniel Saylee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Daniel, so great to have you on the platform and excited to have you share your wisdom with our community today. Communication skills often play a powerful role in our ability to be effective and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your communication skills.
There is a cliché that says closed mouth doesn’t get fed and I will use that to explain how I developed my ability to communicate effectively. In 2019 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and as a result, I had to advocate for myself because I was alone in dealing with something that was totally new to me and either I was going to give up on myself, or I was going to begin to communicate with myself more , by stating I have to do whatever it takes to make a mark in this world, regardless of the circumstances. I really owe my effective communication skills to GOD first and my environment second, there are so many powerful scriptures, that talk about being Christlike and the stories of Christ not being liked by his community and judged, so as a result, I had to make sure I communicated with myself and fought through the difficulties because if I was gonna make a mark within my life then in the community I had to keep a positive spirit about what I was going through and not take it out on anyone but to Elavate my life and share with others. It doesn’t matter what we are going through, we can make the choice to be self sabotaging or be exactly who we want to be, and starting with myself,
It gave me the ability to effectively communicate with others because if I don’t know how to get myself out of a hole then I will not know how to deal with others difficulties as a counselor at the moment. I want to say that my challenges showed me how much strength I had to keep going and this is why I developed a saying as followed “the worst isn’t the worst”, which gives individuals , the idea that you can keep going regardless of how things are looking in your life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
What I do at the moment is counseling for individuals in the Los Angeles county area, and I truly feel called to that position because individuals who are struggling with life or with substance abuse or have a Specific DUI case may get really down about the situation and it is up to me to find ways that they can lift themselves up and I find a great pleasure doing that. I am also a life coach that generally helps individuals who may be struggling with self acceptance to feel good about themselves at different levels in their life and I have a company called Effortless Elevation, and the meaning behind that is that you can choose exactly how you want to feel but sometimes we can be programmed to think negatively and we must pull ourselves out of that situation if our life is going to change by transmuting our outlook. I am also an artist who delivers powerful messages in my songs to be able to connect in another way with individuals who may want to hear something to lift their spirits. Right now what I am working on is new music but also new services regarding counseling and life coaching as well as music and tying it into one plan to give others the ability to express themselves over an instrumental and/or activating a custom plan that addresses their needs.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I look back at my life, the three qualities that I would have to choose would be spirituality, kindness, and freedom because on my journey, these three avenues have been very important in getting me exactly to the moment I am at right now. The best advice that I can share with anyone reviewing This material or that is having a sense of confusion with where they’re going in life would be to focus on caring for yourself first because we can say we love our family or we love our children but if we do not give them 100% of a loved individual (that being ourselves) then we actually do them a disservice which impacts our surroundings. The best way to develop that is acceptance of self or loving of self /self-care, that would be to first understand who you are which can easily be one of the most difficult questions that we have in this life so to tackle that spearheadedly first will give anyone a great jump on who they can become In This life.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who wants to be better than who they were yesterday and is willing to put in the work to get to that point. In life every day, we have to fight to become greater (if we want it) because there are so many temptations and challenges that are in our way. Some characteristics of the ideal client would be determination, willingness to learn, calmness, and adaptability. We all are at certain levels in life, and we have to realize if we are going to change ourselves we may have to do things and/or have certain experiences that we never dreamed of. My ideal client is one who is willing to do whatever it takes and make the Toughest sacrifices to accomplish their goal.
