We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daniela Castillo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daniela below.
Daniela, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I’d say that comes from my surroundings I try to keep myself constantly busy and my inspiration comes within, ever since I was little my creativity will just flow either if it was when I had do a design for class or just a simple collage. God blessed me with a great imagination so things just go along with everything I see, from a tree changing its color when seasons are changing and create a design to just looking to different types of clothing and put them together for a cool outfit.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Daniela Castillo, 27 y/o born and raised in the Dominican Republic. Officially moved to the states a couple of years ago.
I’d say my journey into fashion started when I was little, I used to cut my clothes and sew outfits for my Barbie’s ( my mom was so mad about that ) I’ve always known I wanted to be into fashion so I started studying fashion design but didn’t finish because my other passion came along which was travel. The opportunity to visit around different states came along and I took it, I had to leave my studies behind but learned so much after time went by and I started modeling as a hobby ( I went to modeling school and such so I knew a lot about that world ) and had the opportunity to work with so many great people and just have fun, you know? -I also had the opportunity to participate in Charlotte FW a couple of times and NY fashion week for the Model Experience the designers name is USA magnolia, he does a great work with his street wear clothing!.
While I was modeling I discovered that it was not only creating designs that gave me joy but also stylism, fashion itself is the thing that I always want to be part of, so I took the decision to go back to school and finish what I started, knowledge is power and the more we learn the more you realize how little you know.
Professionally wise I still have a long way to go but I feel like I’m in the right track, I have big goals and like everything I had set my mind to I’ve accomplished I will with my future endeavors.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Organization: take a step back and write down every goal, every desire, anything that you want to accomplish and have for yourself.
Research: do a research on what you need to do & how you can accomplish the things you want.
Persistence: no matter how many times you have to try again never stop going for what you want in life, if is your heart desire & is meant to be yours you’ll definitely get it but you have to work for it.
Also 2 things that have always been with me:
“Omnia Causa Fiunt” everything happens for a reason so if something occurs and you feel down or you don’t get want you wanted at a certain time, don’t feel bad because maybe it was just not the right timing, what is yours will come at the right time.
And the law of attraction: one’s thoughts determine their reality so always picture yourself accomplishing your goals and the things you want in life.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes!
I’m always love to collaborate with new people, doing new things! Modeling is something I really love to do too.
If you ever need a model for advertisement, photoshoots or runway I’m your girl or even if you need some styling advice and you like mine as I tell to my friends my door is always open!
