Meet Daniela Cordero

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daniela Cordero. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Daniela, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

As a photographer creativity is one of them most important qualities to have. Being able to see the world from a different perspective is essential to capture creative images. I get my creativity from locations and even the clients I interact with. When I go to a location it inspires me to capture images that emphasize the atmosphere and the little details that make specific places unique. Nevertheless, people are my biggest inspiration. When in a session the confidence of my clients, the sense of achievement from graduates and the love between couples and families are the most vital factors that drive my creativity.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Daniela, I have always enjoyed taking pictures and capturing special moments. I started DC Photography in 2023 and have learned so much along the way. I am a natural light photographer that captures a little bit of everything: from newborn, maternity, engagements, elopements, graduations and cake-smashes. I am currently getting my Bachelor’s in Nursing from UT Health and I aspire to get my Master’s once I graduate! Even after I graduate I want my photography business to keep being a part of my life since it’s one of the ways I express myself and it just makes me happy to do this job.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back I would say courage, patience and passion were the main qualities that impacted my journey. I needed courage to make the first step and make the decision to announce my business. It can be very scary to start from zero but I would say those that are early in their journey should just go for it and not be scared of failure because failure is just a redirection to what is truly meant for them. I definitely had to have patience to build my clientele and to see the fruits of my hard work. Lastly, passion for my craft is something I always need to have to continue my journey as a photographer.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

Feeling overwhelmed seems to be an emotion I have very frequently since I have so much going on in life. From school, life, to working as a pharmacy tech, my photography business can sometimes feel extremely overwhelming however I feel like organization helps me clear my mind and feel more relieved. Having a planner is my main tip, it allows you to organize all your thoughts and to visualize what tasks need to be done each day.
